Back to school
This week has been filled with commotion as students of all ages headed back to school in Grinnell. With all the excitement, Rachael and I thought it would be fun to dig out our old school pictures. Can you tell which one is which?
We have met many of the new Grinnell College students and their parents in the past week, which is always fun to do. It is interesting to hear their perceptions of our community since so many of them are accustomed to much larger cities. Overall, they all seem impressed with how friendly everyone in town has been and how pretty our community is. We will be leading walking tours of downtown for Grinnell College students on Fridays in September, and are looking forward to the opportunity to show them more of Grinnell.
Speaking of schools, the Grinnell-Newburg School Board election is coming up very soon on September 8. Our school is so important to this community and it is important that you vote in the election. To help you prepare for election day, we have partnered with the League of Women Voters to host a School Board Candidates Forum next Tuesday (Sept. 2). All of the candidates will be there, so it is a great chance to meet them and learn more prior to election day. We hope to see you there.
~Emily Counts
P.S. In case you aren't sure which picture is which, I'm the one with the short hair on the left and Rachael is the one on the right.
