TIME TO CHEER The three-day weekend of Grinnell Games, Iowa's Family Sports Festival, is here. Thank you so much to Grinnell State Bank, Ahrens Park Foundation, Grinnell Sports Authority, Grinnell Regional Medical Center, Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company, Hy-Vee, Total Choice Shipping and Printing, Prairie Lakes Church, Grinnell College and Grinnell Pizza Ranch for sponsoring the Grinnell Games We hope you will join in the fun this weekend! Consider signing up for an event, enjoying the free kids activities on Saturday, cheering on all of our participants, or volunteering. There's many ways to get involved! Online registration has closed but in-person registrations will still be taken prior to each of the events. STREET CLOSURES THIS WEEKEND Grinnell residents, please plan ahead for some street closures on Saturday. The bulk of these closures will be on Saturday morning beginning at 7:30 a.m. for the 5K and 10K races. Click here to see the course map and determine if you will be affected. The roads will be reopened as soon as possible, with all roads opened by 11:00 a.m. at the latest. Some downtown streets will remain closed from 7:30 a.m. until later Saturday evening. MUSIC IN THE PARK is every Thursday in Central Park. The June 11 performance is Grinnell Community Band at 7pm. Tonight's program has been moved to Sebring-Lewis Hall in the Bucksbaum Center for the Arts at Grinnell College, due to inclement weather.
NERF NIGHT is Friday, June 12 from 9-10:30pm at Drake Community Library.
LIVE MUSIC at Van Wijk Winery is Saturday, June 13 from 7-9.
MAKER MONDAYS are Mondays in June from 10-12 and 2-4 in the Storyroom at Drake Community Library.
SE*ED meets Mondays in June at 10am in the Caulkins Community Room at Drake Community Library.

SCHOOL DISTRICT SURVEY. The Grinnell-Newburg Board of Directors would like your input at to why the April 7 bond election did not pass as well as your ideas about how we, as a district and community can move forward and improve our school facilities and learning environments. SCHOOL BOARD POSITION OPEN. The Grinnell-Newburg Community School District Board of Education is looking for an interim director for District 2. Click here for details.
SCHOOL FUNDRAISER. The Grinnell-Newburg Educational Endowment, Dollars for Scholars, and the Grinnell-Newburg Alumni Association are raising funds for classroom equipment, graduate scholarships and alumni association activities. Interested donors may contact the Greater Poweshiek Community Foundation.
SUMMER CLASSES at the Grinnell Area Arts Council are now open for registrations. Choose from exciting offerings such as cooking, poetry, bagpipes and ceramics.
FOOD PANTRY NEEDS YOUR HELP. In order to make their food pantry budget for the year, MICA needs $24,000. Both monetary donations and food donations are appreciated.
FREE BREAKFAST & LUNCH FOR CHILDREN. Grinnell-Newburg Community School District will be providing free breakfast and lunch to children ages 1-18 during the summer. The meals will be served at the Grinnell High School cafeteria, Monday through Friday from June 4 to August 7t Breakfast will be from 8:15 to 8:45 am and lunch will be from 11:15 am to 12:15 pm. Free lunch will also be served at Arbor Apartments on Fridays from June 12-August 7 (weather permitting) for their "In Your Neighborhood" program. Drake Community Library will be at Arbors from 11 am to 2 pm and lunch will be from noon to 12:30pm. There are no income requirements or registration.
GRINNELL REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER GOLF OUTING is current accepting golf team entries.
THERAPY GROUP for parents of children with mental health diagnosis and/or behavioral issues meets the first Saturday of each month. To register, or for more information, contact Healthy Homes Family Services at 641-236-0273.
CHILDREN'S GRIEF PROGRAM will meet on June 30th from 5-7pm, for children grieving the loss of a loved one. Children should be accompanied by an adult. For more information, or to sign up, please call 641-236-2418.
