Picking Up Steam
Things are definitely picking up in our office as we gear up for a crazy but fun summer of community events and festivals. Here's what's on our mind right now:
Downtown Flowers
If you see any Garden Club members out and about, be sure to thank them for the work they do on the downtown flower planters. They were troopers out planting in the rain yesterday morning! And thank you to the city crew for putting up all of the downtown banners and hanging flower baskets.
Farmers Market Kicks Off
The Farmers Market season began yesterday afternoon. It may have been raining, but we had a great showing of both vendors and customers. Our market goes on rain or shine and we leave it up to individual vendors to decide if they will set up. So if it's raining, don't skip the market. You will still find goodies there rain or shine.
Sunshine & Lemonade
We are planning a brand new event for Thursday, June 25. It is called "Sunshine & Lemonade" and it is a collective effort among Grinnell businesses to support our future entrepreneurs, one lemonade stand at a time. We are looking for Grinnell youth grades 3-6 who want to put their entrepreneurial skills into action by setting up lemonade stands at local businesses for this event. If you have a kid that would be interested in hosting a lemonade stand, please email us at emily@getintogrinnell.com to sign up. We have limited space available. Youth can participate individually or in teams of 2-3. We are also looking for local businesses who would like to host a lemonade stand. Click here for details.
