Get Spooked!
We have been working with a group of Grinnell Connect members on a new event, the Grinnell Fright Hike. The first night of the Fright Hike is tomorrow. It is also on Halloween next Friday night. The hike will begin and end at the parking lot on the north side of Arbor Lake, which is on the western-most end of Washington Ave. You'll be sent out into the darkness in pairs or small groups. The route is approx. one mile and you will encounter all sorts of spooky things along the way. You can begin the hike any time between 8 and 11, so you can still make it after the football game. Admission is $10. You can pay that evening or you can buy tickets in advance.

If you're not entirely sold on haunted houses/hikes, I hope you'll give it a try. Bring a couple friends and brave it together. You will start on the paved side of the trail, and there will be a "point of no return" where the pavement ends before you turn to the back side of the lake. If you've had enough at that point, you can decide to turn around and walk back to the beginning. Otherwise, you'll be sent on your way around the rest of the lake.

One of Grinnell Connect's goals is to provide more things to do for people to participate in without having to leave Grinnell, and the Fright Hike was born out of conversations about having more entertainment options here in the Fall. Admission fees will go toward the cost of event supplies and anything left over will be used to support other Grinnell Connect events throughout the year.

-Emily Counts
P.S. You can still sign up to volunteer at either night of the hike if scaring people is up your alley. We'd also love help with setting up each afternoon! Sign up here.
