On Our Minds
  • Plate Baker's new sign looks wonderful, as do the new signs at Gamers and Solera.
  • Please go eat at Relish. It's not easy having road construction blocking you on all sides. Let's do a cash mob there, shall we?
  • The Fix cinnamon rolls are out of this world.
  • Make sure you buy your ducks and your golf balls-the GRMC Auxiliary's golf ball drop and the Galaxy's Duck Derby are both this weekend.
  • Congrats to Grinnellian Paul Durr, the new owner of Prairie Canary.
  • Still time to sign up for the one and only luxury RAGBRAI charter, hosted by Bikes to You.
  • QPS is hosting a big job fair in Grinnell tomorrow. If you're looking for a job in the area, make sure you stop by.
  • Don't feel like cooking? Swing on into Flowers By Dzyne and pick up a frozen meal from Memories Maid (and get some chocolates while you're at it).
  • Pick up a copy of the Grinnell Business Journal (the newest version of The Hub).
  • It's perfect weather to go to the pool! And it's "the place to pick up chicks" according to five teenage boys.
  • The new sock wall at Sports Page is really cool.
  • Malcom Lumber's new building looks amazing.
  • What do you think about downtown valet parking? We think that sounds world famous.
  • The new house on Reed St. being built by Griffith Homebuilders looks fantastic.
  • Ridiculous Day sidewalk sales are a week from Saturday, July 19.
  • Vintage Treasures on Main St. is filled with antiques and vintage finds. (formerly Main St. Consignment and Annabelle's Attic).
  • Gamers is filled to the brim with video game and some cool and unique board games your family & friends would enjoy.
  • Solera's food and wine is to die for. Definitely worth a visit.
  • We are so lucky to have first-run movies at the Strand. Take the family to a movie, and definitely check out the free merchant movies they are hosting this month.
What has "wowed" you lately? Reply to this with your shout-outs about Grinnell businesses and we will compile them for a future blast. Let's spread the love and share some kind words about all the places you have had great experiences at lately.
