Also, Grinnell Games won an award last week! It was recognized as the 2014 Event of the Year at the Mid-America Chamber Executives (MACE) annual conference in Sioux Falls, SD.

Each year, one chamber-organized event is honored with the award, selected from all events coordinated by the more than 700 chambers of commerce who are members of MACE. MACE is the membership organization for chambers in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota. Thanks to all of you who sponsor, participate and volunteer for the Games!

ROAD CONSTRUCTION BEGINS DOWNTOWN MAY 19. 

Con-Struct Inc. of Marshalltown, Iowa, will begin work on Phase 4 of the reconstruction of the Grinnell Central Business District on May 19. 4th Avenue from Broad Street to the Union Pacific rail line will be closed. The intersection of 4th Avenue and Park Street will remain open until June 17. Con-Struct Inc. will start by placing safety barrier fences and removing existing concrete surfaces. All work on 4th Avenue from Broad Street to the Union Pacific rail line is expected to be completed by Monday, Sept. 1. The reconstruction work on 4th Avenue from Main Street to Pearl Street will take place from approximately May 1, 2015 to Oct. 15, 2015.
