Farmers Market
Farmers Market starts next week

The Farmers Market begins next week in downtown Grinnell. In my opinion, that means summer is officially here! Many of last year's vendors are returning again along with more than a dozen new vendors.

The first market of 2014 is next Thursday, May 15, from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday markets will begin next Saturday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to noon. Thank you to Grinnell College and University of Iowa Community Credit Union for sponsoring the 2014 Farmers Market.

New this year are recipe cards that will be placed throughout the market and posted to the Grinnell Farmers Market Facebook page. The cards will provide helpful recipes that can be made using items from the market. Ingredients available at the market will be underlined on the card to make shopping easier.

Shoppers can pick up punch cards from vendors at any of the markets and earn punches for each purchase. We did monthly drawings for prizes last year, but we're increasing that to weekly prize drawings this year! If your name is drawn for the week, you'll win a basket of goodies from various market vendors.

The Farmers Market has its own Facebook page where they will post updates and information throughout the season. Make sure you've 'liked' the Farmers Market Facebook page.
