Be extraordinary
Be extraordinary, kind, compelling and meaningful. These are some of the words that come to mind after the Grinnell Connect luncheon earlier this week. For those of you who don't know, Grinnell Connect is a group focused on connecting new and long standing residents and workforce through a variety of professional and social activities. Josh Coburn, a young professional who is involved with Grinnell Connect and making a difference in Grinnell, in Iowa and across the nation, spoke to our group and encouraged each of us to be extraordinary. Step outside of your comfort zone from time to time - don't be the 'cart dodger' at the grocery store, but instead take a moment to speak to someone. Strive to make more meaningful connections with your colleagues, customers and friends.

It's easy to get caught up in the busy lives we all lead, but important to remember that each and every thing we do and say impacts the lives of others-the power of kind words is extraordinary. Take an extra moment to speak to someone on the sidewalk, in the grocery store or at the gas station. This is an important component of growing both your personal and business relationships. And it's what makes Grinnell a meaningful place to live, work and play.

I encourage each of you to be extraordinary.
-Rachael

p.s. If you want to be involved with Grinnell Connect, please reply to this email. We'd love to have you!
