16th Annual NEPCA Winter ConferenceAfter a slight delay thanks to Mother Nature, the 16th Annual NEPCA Winter Conference took place at the UMass Lowell Inn & Conference Center in Lowell, Massachusetts on February 24th.
More than 120 attended this annual educational day with a full agenda that included a wide range of topics. Of interest to engineers were a case study on a local bridge replacement presented by the Senior Manager from Delta Engineers in charge of the project and an educational session on the use of fibers in the manufacturing process of precast products. Engineers attending this year's program received a certificate for 2.5 professional development hours.
For NEPCA Producer members programs included an overview of the changing OSHA crane operator & personnel certification requirements; fiber use in precast; management of an aging workforce and the always entertaining and educational presentation by NPCA President Ty Gable (pictured above) on the future of the precast industry.
For all attendees, in addition to all the sessions discussed above, a program on how to "Succeed in a Fast Paced World" offered insights on how to better manage your typical day! And finally, our exhibitors and sponsors offered opportunities to view the latest and greatest products and services available for the precast industry.

New Benefit Available to NEPCA MembersNEPCA has negotiated special rates for our members' employees to continue education requirements online.
Are you a producer that employs personnel involved with hoisting machinery and activities? Do you closely monitor the state rules & regulations that pertain to the licensing required for these individuals? Well, then of course you know that in Massachusetts a new regulation went into effect on November 8, 2013 regarding continuing education requirements and has been enforced since May 1, 2014. This regulation, an amendment to the hoisting law 520 CMR 6.00, requires individuals holding 1B and/or 1C licenses to complete continuing education during each licensing period in order to renew their license(s).
NEPCA has negotiated special rates for our members to get this training online. Whether you need a single training course for your employees or multiple programs covering multiple license categories, your membership pays off with reduced training fees. NEPCA is in final discussions with 2 vendors to make this training available to our members and will be announcing the details to the membership very soon.
Precast Solutions Added to NEPCA's Promotional Efforts
Beginning with the Fall 2015 issue of "Precast Solutions," an industry publication from the National Precast Concrete Association directed at specifiers and engineers, will become an important tool in the promotional efforts being undertaken by NEPCA for our members. Each issue will also include information about the Association and our producer members.
