The thorny issue of tax fairness provided the timely focus of the 2013 Annual Lecture in Law and Society at Wolfson College last month. Professor Liam Murphy from New York University argued that ethical misunderstanding of the central legal institutions of a market economy badly distorts political debate on tax and other issues of social justice.
