ZGS Communications Introduces its First Scholarship and Internship Program in Partnership with CHCI
In partnership with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, ZGS Communications launched a scholarship and paid internship project. The CHCI-ZGS Communications Scholar Intern program is designed to offer qualifying Latino students a dynamic real-world work experience in a multi-media environment, while providing monetary compensation and scholarship funds to help students with the financial burdens of post-secondary education. Applications for the CHCI-ZGS Communications Scholar Intern program are available now at apply.chci.org. The deadline to apply is January 22, 2016.

Huge Emmy Wins for ZGS Television Stations
KTDO El Paso took home two Emmy awards at the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) Lone Star Chapter's 13th Annual Lone Star Emmy Awards on November 7. Telenoticias El Paso's Video Journalist Chantal Sansores won in the category Feature News Report - Light Feature/Series report Oficios Con Madres. Antonio Favela, Sports Anchor, was recognized for a third time bringing an Emmy home for his sports series La Diva De La Lucha in the Sports - News Single Story/Series category.

Meanwhile in Florida, WTMO Orlando and WRMD Tampa were the only Spanish-language television stations to bring home Emmys in their respective markets. First-time EMMY winners Andrea Marcial, Multi-Media Journalist, Marvin Somoza, Technical Director/Photographer, and Adel Hidalgo, Photographer for WTMO Telenoticias Orlando and Milton Lugo, Photojournalist for WRMD Telenoticias Tampa tied for top honors in the Human Interest - News category at the 39th Annual Suncoast Emmy Awards on December 5. Corazón Que Se Apaga, WTMO Orlando and Mi Vida Sobre Ruedas, WRMD Tampa were recognized for excellence in journalism and production.

WZDC Washington DC's Hispanic Summit Impacts the DC Metro
In partnership with the Washington Business Journal, WZDC Washington DC hosted the first ever DC Hispanic Impact Summit on the morning of October 23. The discussion featured emerging leaders from the local community, sharing their career success stories and how they are making a difference for Hispanics in the Washington metropolitan region. Leaders included Ernest Cordova of Accenture Federal Services, Javier Saade of the U.S. Small Business Administration, Thomas Sanchez of Social Driver, and Osiris Hoil of District Taco.

KTDO El Paso Walks in Her Shoes
The men of KTDO Telenoticias El Paso put on their red high heels for the annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®. Held on October 15, the event raised awareness about the serious causes, effects and remediations to men's sexualized violence against women. After walking a mile in high heels, the men who participated better understood and appreciated women's experiences, thus changing perspectives to help improve gender relations and decrease the potential for violence.

Thousands of families from the Tampa Bay area gathered to celebrate the 11th edition of WRMD Tampa's premiere grassroots event La Feria de la Familia® presented by Winn-Dixie at the Florida State Fairgrounds. Sponsors showcased products and services available for the Hispanic community. Attendees enjoyed activities and musical performances throughout the day and had the unique opportunity to meet Telemundo stars Gaby Espino and Fabian Rios, as well as the entire Telenoticias Tampa team. The event concluded with a stellar performance by merengue institution, Los Hermanos Rosario.

WRIW Providence viewers were treated to a wide array of services at the fourth installment of La Feria de la Familia® at Bay View Academy in Riverside. From United Way's local health resources to McDonald's featured Fiesta Tour, the virtual exhibit showcasing Latin Grammy winners' memorabilia, to great entertainment, La Feria provided a fun-filled day for the entire family. Suelta La Sopa's Carolina Sandoval greeted guests while J' Martin, Juan Esteban, and La Republika provided the live music.

WZDC Washington DC's La Feria de la Familia® packed the DC Armory and viewers had access to free diabetes screenings, dental examinations, and many more resources. This year's invited guests included La Voz Kids 2015 winner, Jonael Santiago, Señora Acero actor Lincoln Palomeque, as well as Celia protagonist Jeimy Osorio. As part of KTDO El Paso's 10 year anniversary, the station wanted to say thank you in a big way at La Feria de la Familia® held at the El Paso Convention Center. Attendees had to collect stamps on a Telemundo 48 passport during the event to be eligible. Thousands participated and 10 finalists were selected. Each finalist was given an opportunity to randomly select a prize box on the main stage and compete for a grand prize of $10,000! First-time attendee Tomasa Flores was the lucky winner. El Señor de los Cielos actor Mauricio Ochmann also participated in KTDO El Paso's community event.
