WWDT Fort Myers Naples Attracts Thousands for La Feria de La Familia
WWDT Fort Myers Naples kicked off the 2014 La Feria de La Familia season on June 8 at Harborside Event Center. Thousands of families from Southwest Florida took advantage of all La Feria has to offer - resources, information, prizes and entertainment. The event featured interactive demonstrations of exhibitors' goods and services, free health screenings, fitness demonstrations and financial education tools. Several personalities made appearances, including Diego Schoening from Telemundo's morning show Un Nuevo Día, and the hosts of WWDT's local programming Jackie Figueroa, Fiorela Papapietro and Arturo Linares, of Acción Hispana, Telediario and Crónica Teve, respectively, emceed the event. An exciting performance by urban reggaeton sensation Fuego, accompanied by Pitbull's backup dancers, concluded the day. Attendees also participated in dance and DJ competitions for a chance to win cash prizes.

WZDC Washington DC Celebrates Local Women
WZDC Washington DC recognized the contributions of women at the sixth annual Fiesta de las Madres on May 18 in Silver Spring. This year's Fiesta featured free health screenings, live music, entertainment, information and activities for the entire family. Celebrities Gabriel Coronel and Litzy attended the celebration where Coronel performed songs from his latest CD Desnudo, while Litzy signed autographs and took pictures with fans. A ribbon cutting ceremony kicked off the celebration with the participation of Ike Leggett, County Executive of Montgomery County, and Lorena Clauser, member of the Governor's Commission on Hispanic Affairs, who delivered remarks on behalf of Governor Martin O'Malley. Attendees also engaged in social media contests and various raffles throughout the day with the chance to win exciting prizes.

ZGS Attends 2014 PromaxBDA Station Summit
ZGS Communications attended the 2014 PromaxBDA Station Summit from June 24 - 27, held at The Mirage in Las Vegas. The ZGS delegation included members of each station's marketing and production team. The annual conference also included the Telemundo Stations Marketing Summit, which was a great opportunity for every Telemundo affiliate across the country to gather and openly discuss the trends and issues driving local television. Numerous presentations were given and several speakers addressed the group, sharing valuable insight on a variety of topics, such as strategies, advances in technology and revenue opportunities. The PromaxBDA Station Summit is always an exciting learning experience that the team looks forward to each year.

WRMD Tampa Hosts Client Appreciation Upfront Presentation
WRMD Tampa celebrated their clients at the second annual Client Appreciation Reception and Upfront Presentation at The Tampa Club on May 15. The event gave clients an opportunity to learn first-hand about the station's many accomplishments of the past year, as well as the exciting new ventures and programming for the upcoming year. The station's General Manager Jayme Ribeiro Neto highlighted WRMD's #1 performance in key dayparts, such as early fringe and primetime, in addition to their solid ratings performance during February sweeps. The event also marked the official announcement of the fall 2014 launch of WRMD's local newcast Telenoticias Tampa. This year's successful event was enjoyed by the members of the station and clients alike.

WZDC Washington DC Empowers Voters
WZDC Washington DC collaborated with the Montgomery County Board of Elections, WHUR 96.3 FM and the Silver Spring Civic Building to participate in the Voter Registration & Empowerment Drive on May 30 at Veterans Plaza.The event encouraged all attendees and viewers to register to vote so that their voices would be heard in the Primary Election on June 24. This effort is part of the station's 2014 voter engagement initiative Vota por tu Futuro.

WTMO Orlando Conducts News Summit for Telenoticias Orlando
WTMO Orlando held a News Summit in an effort to better serve the viewers and digital followers of Telenoticas Orlando, and holaciudad.com on June 7 at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. The round table discussion and workshop focused on newsgathering and reporting while keeping up with the ever-changing demands of today's news services. Relevant statistics and information, such as demographics and interests of Hispanics in the Orlando market, were analyzed and discussed. The summit served to reinvigorate the station's commitment to serve the local community and empower the news team to better engage and maintain a trusting connection with the viewers.The summit was led by ZGS Communications' President Eduardo Zavala; WTMO Telemundo Orlando VP and General Manager Alex Sánchez Sobrino; and News Director Gilberto Companioni.

WZTD Richmond Organizes First Copa Telemundo Soccer Tournament
WZTD Richmond, in partnership with the Richmond Kickers, organized the first Copa Telemundo, an exciting 3v3 soccer tournament for the Richmond community that was held on June 22. Over 30 teams competed in the 8-hour event, with a total attendance of over 2,000 people. Four divisions of adult teams competed to win the coveted Copa Telemundo. In addition to playing and watching the soccer games, attendees had the opportunity to win vendors' giveaways and prizes. Children also enjoyed a fun day with a variety of games. The first Copa Telemundo was a great success!

Auditions for the fourth season of
Solo Tu Voz began with WRDM/WDMR Hartford Springfield on May 29. The first audition took place at the McDonald's located in New Britain, Connecticut with more than 20 hopeful participants. The participants and their families enjoyed the audition's music and fun, including an appearance by Ronald McDonald who interacted with the families. Additionally, WRDM/WDMR Hartford Springfield gave away prizes. It was a great way to kick-off the new season of Solo Tu Voz!

holaciudad.com reached over 625,000 unique visitors during the month of June, the highest traffic number since the site's inception, and over 2 million page views for the month. In addition to this milestone, the site also rolled out the first holaciudad! mobile version for holaciudad! El Paso, available as apps through both iTunes and Google Play stores. Furthermore, holaciudad! partnered with TD Bank to promote Latino Small Business Ownership. With 44% of Hispanics utilizing mobile banking, holaciudad! took this as an opportunity to support small Latino businesses as they begin their business ambitions.The campaign is a digital only production, including social media and content generation, and features nine Latino "Triunfadores" in Miami, New York and DC. WRDM/WDMR Hartford Springfield Partners with Connecticut to Encourage Home Ownership
WRDM/WDMR Hartford Springfield and the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) collaborated to support the local community with a Linea de Ayuda, or Help Line, offering free tips and advice to callers on how to obtain their first home. The Linea de Ayuda is the station's ongoing initiative to provide viewers with information and resources about issues of importance. On the evening of May 28, volunteers from CHFA answered callers' questions and concerns to demystify the home buying process. The station was inundated with calls and the initiative was so successful, viewers continued to call the line the following day.

WTMO Orlando Launches Te Da Más Campaign
WTMO Orlando implemented an image campaign to drive viewers and build brand recognition throughout the community. The multiplatform Telemundo Orlando Te Da Más (Gives You More) campaign featured local news personalities and included billboards, radio, digital and on-air components. The campaign was extremely successful and served as a great way to connect with local viewers.

Walks Like MADD
WZTD Richmond participated in Mothers Against Drunk Driving's (MADD) sixth annual 5K walk, Walk Like MADD, on April 12 in Richmond. The station had the opportunity to say a few words during the walk's opening ceremony and also brought giveaways for the participants. MADD's signature fundraising event seeks to raise awareness and prevent drunk driving and underage drinking in order to keep local families and communities safe. Among the walkers were friends and families of those who have been affected by drunk driving and underage drinking.

WRIW Providence Participates in Prescription Drug Take Back Day
WRIW Providence supported Rhode Island's
Prescription Drug Take Back Day on April 26. The event featured food, music and entertainment as well as multiple speeches given by the mayor's Substance Abuse Council. WRIW sponsored a table with a prize wheel, premiums and the money machine. This initiative allows the public to properly dispose of any expired, unused and/or unwanted prescription drugs as a preventive measure against drug abuse, as well as safety and health hazards. This was the first time WRIW supported the event and the station looks forward to participating again next year!
