Texas Robotics Roundup!

Come and see forty-two robotics FIRST Robotics Competition teams from all over Texas and beyond come together in Austin on August 1st and 2nd! The 150lb robots compete in alliances and score by passing and shooting exercise balls over trusses and into goals in the Aerial Assist competition game! Find out more info!


2014 Samsung STEM Challenge

Girls grades 4-12 will work in teams with mentors from Samsung over a 6-week long challenge to come up with solutions to the real-world STEM challenge. During this Kick-Off Event on September 13, 2014 girls will get a chance to meet mentors, learn about the challenge, register their teams, pick-up their challenge kits and participate in workshops that will help them with their projects. NASA's Asteroid Grand Challenge Contest Series

NASA's Asteroid Grand Challenge contest series will offer $35,000 in awards to citizen scientists who develop improved algorithms that can be used to identify asteroids. The winning solution must increase the detection sensitivity, minimize the number of false positives, ignore imperfections in the data and run effectively on all computer systems. To help break down the barriers that prevent underrepresented groups in computer science from attending leading tech conferences, Google is offering Google Travel and Conference Grants for selected conferences in Computer Science and related fields. See the eligibility and application.

The Robotics Education & Competition Foundation will have new and existing team grants available through the Texas Workforce Commission again this year.  They will be able to establish 225 new VEX Robotics high school teams this year as well as providing grants to 300 existing teams. They also have some Women in STEM grants available which can be used for middle school teams as well. The grant includes team registration fee's and everything needed to build a competitive robot. Educators across Texas are invited to attend free professional development opportunities and discover how to engage young women through research-based, high quality activities and resources!

The FabFems directory is a national database of women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) professions who are inspiring role models for young women. The FabFems directory is accessible to young women, girl-serving STEM programs, and other organizations that are working to increase career awareness and interest in STEM.

The GEMS Camp
GEMS camp isn't your ordinary academic camp! It is offered free of charge to urban teenage girls in the Oak Cliff are of Dallas. Its mission is to prepare cores in 5 core areas: academics, creativity, leadership, services, and career.
Email us at stem@txgcp.org to get added as an event coordinator...and then start entering your events!
Google Groups
These groups are all about sharing resources, information, events, volunteers, needs, and more with others reaching out to K12 students aiming to excite them about science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

For those not in one of these areas who still want to receive information going out to all groups, join the Texas K-12 STEM Outreach group.
