The first week of PE was spent with a tour of the yard for kindergarten and reacquainting our 1st-5th graders with the yard by playing switch, mushroom tag and blob tag.  

 

We have some great new equipment that will be introduced during PE classes this year. Look for you kids to play games like Blongo Ball and Roller Scooters.

  

1st-3rd grade talent shows on the yard have already begun at lunch time and always draw a crowd.  Encourage your kids to talk to the coaches if they want to participate!

 

Finally, coach Kris and Coach Jonah have posed a challenge to the 5th graders. In preparation for the Fitnesgram, any student who can beat both Jonah and Kris in the mile will be treated to a Robek's smoothie!

Earlier this week, we sent out an email thanking all of our amazing 2012-13 volunteers.  We are so lucking to be in a community in which so many help out so much.  Please read through here if you have not already.

It is important to have your children in school everyday. Not only for learning, but also so our school gets paid. Our school loses $35 every time a child has a non excused absence.  If you absence is excused please email excusedabsences@palielementary.org so our school does not lose money.

Scrip is Here! 

 Scrip team will be available the 2nd and 4th Monday of every month - starting tomorrow!  Get your orders in now.  Scrip is a store gift card program that raises funds for PEP at no additional cost to families. All that is required is a little upfront planning and participation.
 
The Scrip team purchases gift cards at a discount and resells them to you at face value to use at your favorite retailers (including local Palisades shops). The difference between the purchase and sales price of the cards is a contribution to PEP - an average of 5%! Gift card contact: Karen Watson - scrip@palielementary.org 

 

Yard Supplies Needed
 
Coach Kris is looking for donations for the Art Station and Game Station that runs on the Yard at Recess and Lunch (also great for rainy days at lunch time.) The yard would be excited to add any new or slightly used items. There will be a box on the front steps for donations this week. Suggested list is below. Thank you for your support!

Stamps and ink stamp pads

Beads for making bracelets
Any other craft supply such as pipe cleaners or plastic eyeballs

Check out our newest fundraising opportunity.  Schoola Stitch raises money for our school by selling gently-used, brand name children's clothing online. We donate the clothes and Schoola does the rest.

 

Just sign up HERE and request a bag. That day Schoola sends you a free postage-paid collection bag to fill with gently-used name brand children's clothing. UPS picks it up free of charge, and...Bingo! You've just helped PEP raise funds and cleaned out your kid's closet. Once Schoola receives the donations they sort it and sell it and give up to 40% of the proceeds to Palisades Charter Elementary. On average, they are seeing between $30-50 per bag of clothes - some bags chock full of clothes could raise as much as $150. 

Birthday Greetings   
 
The time has come to reserve your child's birthday greeting on the School Marquee.  Forms are located in the school office or here. Leave a completed request form  and a $30 check payable to PEP in the Marquee box in the school office.
