We will be announcing the winners in the next blast!
Three Day Memorial Day Weekend: Please remember that our school will be closed on Monday, May 27. This is of course a National Holiday. Enjoy the time with your family.
Heads Up: International Day will be this Thursday, May 30. The children will experience five countries, all of which are represented by school families. Students will "travel" through these countries (India, Kenya, Korea, Netherlands and New Zealand) and spend their time viewing vivid and informative displays. Then they will partake in an activity inspired by each country. Parents, please be on the lookout for the volunteer sign-up sheet as this day will not be possible without parent volunteers. After lunch the fifth graders are challenging the staff to the annual kickball game. Let's see who is victorious this year!
Incentives for Summer Workbooks: Supplemental "Review" Books are available on-line. "LA Kids Learn" books are for all elementary age students for summer review and their titles are "Review First Grade-Get Ready for Second Grade"; "Review Second Grade-Get Ready for Third Grade" etc. Parents can order them at www.tcmpub.com. If your child finishes theirs and brings it back to school in August completed, they will earn the opportunity to ring our historic bell with Mrs. Ingle. Please encourage them to engage in this very important summer brain stimulating activity and this rare Pali incentive.
Dismissal Schedule: On Wednesday, June 5 and Friday, June 7 dismissal time for all grades will be 1:05 pm. On Thursday, June 6 times will remain the same at 1:30 pm for Kinder and 1:45 pm for Grades 1 - 5.

Our culminating Fifth Grade Class of 2013 Ceremony is scheduled the next day on Friday, June 7 at 8:30 am. Both will be in the auditorium. 2013 Summer Reading Club: All kids are invitedto join the LA Public Library's 2013 Summer Reading Club! The theme this year is "Reading is SO Delicious!" It starts on June 3. Go to any library and sign up and you will receive a game board and a free book bag. Read, come to free shows at the library and do fun activities all summer. Children can earn prizes and a free book. Kids who read during the summer keep their reading skills strong. They are ready to learn when they come back to school in August. Go and sign up at our local library or www.lapl.org/summerreading. See you at the library!
Sincerely,
