Principal's Message
Dear Parents, April 20, 2013
CST News: Next week, California State Testing continues until April 24. All of our 2nd - 5th graders will be busy every morning with these very important achievement tests. There will be no Monday Morning Assembly on April 22. Please be on time. Students that arrive late will not be able to take the test with their classmates!
Art Cadre: Beginning this Wednesday and ending on Friday, the first, second and third grade students will be busy painting a huge (9 ft.X 12 ft.) "Monet's Garden" mural, to be hung in the Lori Petrick Garden for Open House. Small groups of kids will be taken outside to work on the mural, while the rest of the kids are working on an individual piece of art in the Art Cadre room.
Ice Cream Social: "Ice cream is happiness condensed". This fun-raising event is this Thursday! So come and let our terrific teachers give you the "scoop" from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm.

Kindergarten Visiting Day: Attention Fall 2013 Kindergarten Class! Children who are registered for next fall's Kindergarten class are invited, along with one of their parents or a guardian, to Kindergarten Visiting Day taking place this Friday, April 26 from 2-3 pm. The children can play on the equipment, have a snack, explore the classrooms and meet our current Kindergarten teachers. At this event, we ask parents to fill out a student questionnaire that will be used by the Kindergarten teachers and the principal to form the classes for next year's Kindergarten. This is a terrific way to introduce your future Kindergartener to his or her new school and the questionnaire is our best way for you to introduce your child to our teachers. Parents can also learn more about our STAR program and explore ways to get "involved" in the 2013-2014 school year at Pali. And don't forget to bring cash or check to purchase your first bit of PaliWear, which will be on sale. If you know someone who is planning on registering, but has yet to do so, encourage him or her to register and come to Kindergarten Visiting Day. Thanks for helping us spread the word. Questions? Contact kinderambassador@palielementary.org.

So far our students have gathered over $200 worth of pennies! Students till have a few weeks to continue to help children who are sick with blood cancers like leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. All you have to do is collect coins in the small green boxes and bring them back to school to put in your child's classroom donation collection box. Our school's goal is to raise $1,000, but the sky's the limit! All checks can be made payable to "The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society". Thank you for your generosity and caring.
New & Easy Way To Help Pali Retain Funding When Your Child Misses School: Each Unexcused Absence costs Pali $35 per day, per missing student. However, LAUSD pays Pali for Excused Absences, which helps to retain important programs for our students. Pali makes it easy to send an Excused Absence note! Now you can simply EMAIL a note to the front office from your computer, tablet or smartphone. The email address is ExcusedAbsence@PaliElementary.org.
