pennies for patientsPennies for Patients: This week Palisades Elementary Student Council joined 27,000 schools nationwide to support Pennies for Patients, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's annual fundraising campaign. For the next few weeks, our school will help children who are sick with blood cancers like leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. All you have to do is collect coins in the small green boxes that went home last week, and bring them back to school to put your child's classroom donation collection box. A flier explaining the Pennies for Patients program was sent home along with the small collection box earlier this week. Our school's goal is to raise $1,000, but the sky is the limit! Remember, every penny counts. Pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, bills, and checks are graciously accepted. All checks can be made payable to "The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society". Please help Palisades Elementary Student Council make a difference in the lives of children. Thank you for your generosity and caring.

emailNew & Easy Way To Help Pali Retain Funding When Your Child Misses School: Many parents don't know that when your child misses school due to an illness, doctor's appointment or family emergency, the parent should always write a note to the school briefly describing the reason for the absence. This simple effort changes the classification of your child's absence from Unexcused to Excused Absence. Why is this important? Last academic year, Pali Elementary lost almost $100,000 in per pupil funding due to Unexcused Absences. Each Unexcused Absence costs Pali $35 per day, per missing student. However, LAUSD pays Pali for Excused Absences, which helps to retain important programs for our students. Pali makes it easy to send an Excused Absence note!  Now you can simply EMAIL a note to the front office from your computer, tablet or smartphone.  The email address is ExcusedAbsence@PaliElementary.org. There's also a button on the website at www.PaliElementary.org!  Of course, if you wish you may continue to send a note to your child's teacher.
