TRIBES Update From Coach Kris

The coaches are currently focusing on the Mutual Respect TRIBES agreement by encouraging students in upper grades to make an effort to invite younger students to play games together, making the younger kids feel more comfortable on the yard.

As a reminder TRIBES is a process, not just a curriculum or set of cooperative activities, designed to develop a positive environment that promotes learning and human growth. This requires learning how to build community environment using five agreements:

  1. Attentive listening - Acknowledge the person who is speaking with full attention and eye contact, withholding one's own comments and opinions. Pay attention not only to the words but also to the feelings behind the words.
  2. Appreciation - No put downs - Speaking kindly and avoiding negative remarks fosters a positive climate.
  3. The right to pass - Each person has the right to choose the extent to which they will participate in a group activity.
  4. Mutual respect - Everyone's individual cultural values, beliefs, and needs will be considered and properly honored.
  5. Use "I" messages when responding to others - "I messages" do not convey judgment, nor are they put downs.

PaliGiving Participation Needed!     Pali Giving

Pali Giving is PEP's largest and most important
fundraiser. Participation is currently only at 62%.  Our incredible team of PaliGiving representatives won't rest you until it is at least at 75%.

If you haven't given yet, and plan on it, now is the time!  We need to know final numbers to figure out our budget for next year.  Every $$ donation of any amount makes Pali a better place for our children!
Thank you to all our generous supporters!
