Music Corner from Teacher Lawrie

We're singing a lot in music class these days. Ask your children to sing a few songs for you!  Ask your Kindergartners to sing "We live in a house."  Your First graders can sing "The Big Rock Candy Mountain." Second graders just learned "This Pretty Planet," and Third Graders are learning an old folk song, "Polly Wolly Doodle".

Besides singing, we spend time playing the percussion instruments, including the drums and triangles.  More recently, the students have been playing the Xylophones, Metallaphones and Glockenspiels.  Be sure to mark your calendar for the Spring Concerts! Our students will be performing many of the songs and dances they've learned in class.

Parenting in a Digital Age

The Parent Outreach Committee is pleased to announce a parenting workshop on Tuesday, March 19th at 8:30 am in the library.  The presentation is called "Parenting in the Digital Age" by Yalda Uhls, Regional Director of Common Sense Media and Researcher at UCLA's Children's Media Center@LA. Youth need guidance more than ever before to learn about the enormous power of this pervasive tool and to use it safely, creatively, thoughtfully and productively.  The talk will explore some of the critical issues facing parents as they guide their children in the digital age.
