PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Parents, February 9, 2013
 Science Fair: We had one of the finest events of the year last Monday as 200 young scientists gathered to exhibit their research. Thank you to all our teacher liaisons, Science Fair parents and Science Fair team - Dr. David Dawson, Kristina Morris, Brittany Aspey, Susan McInerney, Madeleine Walker and Susan Williams. The grand prize winner in fifth grade was Jessica Garff. There was a three-way tie for second place with Daniel Doran, Chaz Mazbodi and Luke Todaro. Congratulations to all of our young researchers and to everyone who participated in this wonderful and inquisitive event. Each grade level from kinder - fourth had raffle winners who also received a prize as well.
 February Parent Outreach Presentation: On Tuesday, February 12 at 8:30 am in our Library, Donald Gettinger will be speaking about "Talking to Kids About Money: How parents can help their kids develop a healthy relationship with money". He comes highly recommended by some of our parents who saw him present elsewhere.
 Jump Rope for Heart:This Thursday, February 14 at
8:45 am is one of our most treasured events of the year. All of the Palisades Elementary School children will join in on this Valentine's Day. Please encourage your children to participate with enthusiasm by practicing jump roping with everyone. More information will be forthcoming. Please bring in a jump rope from home that day to join in the fun! Room parents will be getting volunteers to bring in water and orange slices for each class.
 2013 PTA Founder's Day: The award recipients have been decided upon: Laurie Duran, Miguel Espinoza, Coach Kris, Daphne Gronich, Alyssa MacMillar, Paul Nagle, Kim Neumann, Andreas Neumann and Terri Rawson Thetford. The luncheon will occur Thursday, Feb. 21 at 2:00 pm. Please try to attend.
 Mark Your Calendars and Get Ready to Spell
: The Second Annual Pacific Palisades Spelling Bee has been scheduled for Sunday, February 24, 2013. Last year, Pali Elementary had a great showing at this community-wide event and Pali students took home 4 of the 12 trophies awarded. Let's do it again!
 Optional Parent Teacher Conferences: Be ginning Tuesday, March 5 the daily bell schedule will change for that week only. On Wednesday and Friday only of that week all classes (including kindergarten) will begin at our normal 8:10 a.m. but end at 1:05 p.m. in order to accommodate parent teacher conferences. The Tuesday and Thursday schedule will remain the same as usual.
