Dear Parents, February 2, 2013
 Science Fair: Science Fair:It's happening this Monday, Feb. 4 in the auditorium and cafeteria with 200 young scientist entries! Teacher liaisons and Science Fair parents are ready to make this Monday a great experience for our young researchers. Your Science Fair team - Dr. David Dawson, Kristina Morris and Susan McInerney are at your service.
 An Introduction to Kindergarten at Pali: This important event is happening this Wednesday, February 6 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am in our library. Please let your friends in the community who have preschoolers know that Kindergarten Orientation for Palisades Elementary is right around the corner. This is a very important day for prospective parents to see our campus, learn about our philosophies and culture, visit classrooms and hear from the Kindergarten teachers.
 Last Chance: Here is the correct link to take the PEP survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/PEP2013survey The survey only takes a couple minutes so please take the time to answer if you have not already. This incredibly important survey helps us determine PEP's funding priorities. If you are a parent at this school - you are PEP - so let your voice be heard. Take the survey now!
 Box Tops: Please keep collecting Box Tops and turn in your collection sheets before February 8. At the February 11 assembly, we will draw three lucky winners who will receive gift certificates to the Yogurt Shoppe. The class with the most completed collection sheets gets to keep the Box Top Bear until the next drawing! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Coleen Ghaffari at your earliest convenience. Thanks for your help!
February Parent Outreach Presentation: On Tuesday, February 12 at 8:30 am in our Library, Donald Gettinger will be speaking about "Talking to Kids About Money: How parents can help their kids develop a healthy relationship with money". He comes highly recommended by some of our parents who saw him present elsewhere.
 Jump Rope for Heart: All of the Palisades Elementary School children will participate on Valentine's Day, Thursday, February 14 in one of their most treasured events. Please encourage your children to participate with enthusiasm by practicing jump roping with everyone. More information will be forthcoming.
 2013 PTA Founder's Day: The award recipients have been decided and the celebration luncheon will occur Thursday, Feb. 21 at 2:00 pm. Thank you to all who participated in contributing names for our Founder's Day recognition.
 Mark Your Calendars and Get Ready to Spell: The Second Annual Pacific Palisades Spelling Bee has been scheduled for Sunday, February 24, 2013. Last year, Pali Elementary had a great showing at this community-wide event and Pali students took home 4 of the 12 trophies awarded. Let's do it again! Sign-up by February 7 at http://www.palibee.com.
 School Enrollment and Lottery: Applications are now available in the main office for the upcoming 2013-2014 school year.**If you currently have a child at Palisades Elementary School and they have a sibling that will become school aged for the upcoming year, please understand that you must complete an enrollment application for your younger student. **Parents who have moved out of the area please come and fill out a lottery form for next year. If the district's policy were to change, you should be on the lottery waiting list to back-up your child's enrollment at Pali.
 Optional Parent Teacher Conferences: Beginning Tuesday, March 5 the daily bell schedule will change for that week only. On Wednesday and Friday only of that week all classes (including kindergarten) will begin at our normal 8:10 a.m. but end at 1:05 p.m. in order to accommodate parent teacher conferences. The Tuesday and Thursday schedule will remain the same as usual.
