PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Parents, January 12, 2013
School Enrollment and Lottery: Applications will be available in the main office for the upcoming 2013-2014 school year this Monday, January 14. If you know of someone who lives outside the traditional Palisades Elementary School attendance area and wants to submit a lottery application, please let him or her know that the application must be returned by Monday, March 11 at 3:00 p.m. The lottery drawing will take place on Friday, March 22 at 8:30 am. If you currently have a child at Palisades Elementary School and they have a sibling that will become school aged for the upcoming year, please understand that you must complete an enrollment application for your younger student. Parents who have moved out of the area please come and fill out a lottery form for next year. If the district's policy were to change, you should be on the lottery waiting list to back-up your child's enrollment at Pali. A further explanation of this will be briefly discussed at Coffee and Chat this Monday.
Coffee and Chat with the Principal: This Monday, January 14 right after the assembly, please join us in the library for our monthly discussion. Current topics will be discussed.
School Tour: Attention parents of future Kindergartners! Palisades Elementary Charter School is holding its annual Introduction to Pali Kindergarten Presentation & Tour on Wednesday, February 6 from 9 am to 11 am in our library. Whether you've taken our regular monthly tour or not, please join us for this in-depth, Kindergarten centered presentation and tour of our classrooms and school. This is an opportunity to learn even more about Pali Kindergarten. You will see all of the Kindergarten classrooms, meet and hear from our Kindergarten teachers and learn more about our Kindergartener's curriculum and life at Pali Elementary. No RSVP necessary. Questions? Email kinderambassador@palielementary.org.
Parent Outreach Speaker: Lee Hausner, author of Homework without Tears, will address this topic and answer questions on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at 8:30 am in the library.
Community Service: A large thanks to all who came to school and helped this Saturday, January 12 with this Community Service effort. Everyone was so energetic and positive and our school is cleaner inside & out. Special thanks go to Trisha Jochen, Ona Barnett and Jerriann Flemming for the organization and successful planning of the day.
Science Fair: It's happening on Feb. 4 in the auditorium. Let's get the kids involved! For more information, please pick up a registration form in the entry hallway by the office or check your child's backpack.
Encounters of the Mistaken Kind: Please, please, please refrain from using any children's bathroom if you are an adult. The adult bathrooms are located inside Room One. We have had some students a bit confused by parents using their bathrooms. Please help us with this.
For Early Drop Off Needs: The YMCA's Sunrise School Care provides safe, affordable, quality care for Palisades Elementary students, beginning at First Grade, before school starts, opening at 6:30 am. Children will have the opportunity to engage in activities that benefit them emotionally, physically and socially.
Sincerely,
Joan Ingle, Principal
Thought for the week: I think, at a child's birth, if a mother could ask a fairy godmother to endow it with the most useful gift, that gift should be curiosity. Eleanor Roosevelt
