PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Parents, September 29, 2012
Big Announcement: This Tuesday, October 2 we will begin the Learning Lab Program. This reading intervention program is a new tool in helping struggling students become successful readers. Our teachers have in-class strategies for intervention and this is a new supplement program available that will use the format of working with small groups of students. The program is research-based and we know that this will provide the most effective systematic approach because it has been designed for students to learn, practice and reinforce essential reading skills. We have planned three 30-minute mini-lessons a week. We still need a few permission slips turned in from parents of the selected students to participate.
Coffee and Chat: This Monday, October 1 there will be a Coffee and Chat with your Principal @ 8:30 am right after the Monday Morning Assembly. Please join us in the library for conversation about the current and upcoming events at our school.
Picture Day: This Wednesday, October 3 is Picture Day. Please send your children ready for their annual class and individual photos. Smiles are welcomed.
School Tour: This Wednesday, October 3 @ 8:45 am a tour for new and interested parents will occur. If you know of any family that is interested in attending Palisades Elementary School as a resident or as a charter lottery applicant, please let them know of our monthly tours.
Governing Council: This Thursday, October 4 at 2:00 pm is our next meeting. Please join us and participate in the governance of our charter school.
Next week, October 8-12 is Parent Conference Week: Monday, Wednesday and Friday will be minimum days with dismissals at 1:05 pm for all. On Tuesday and Thursday dismissal times will be the usual (grades 1-5 at 1:45 pm and Kindergarten at 1:30 pm).
Yee Haw: In two weeks we will be having our annual Yee Haw Day on Saturday, October 13! This is always one of our school's favorite events. Please plan to attend and have lots of fun!
