PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

 Dear Parents,                                                                           September 15, 2012

Heads Up: On Monday, September 17 School will be closed in observance of Rosh Hashanah.

Calling all Parents to PEP: The first PEP meeting of the year will be this Wednesday, September 19 at 8:30 a.m.! PEP is a fantastic way to participate in the life of our school and in your child's education. Come and join in!

Bookends Used Book Drive:  This week Pali 5th graders, acting as BookEnds  Ambassadors, will be collecting gently used books to provide less fortunate students with classroom libraries.  Please empower your child to help by working together to select gently used books from your home collection to donate.  The books that they have outgrown will provide Los Angeles-area students with the books that will help them learn to read.  Our goal this year is 3,000 books!  For more information about  BookEnds please click on the following link http://www.bookends.org/Questions about BookEnds?  Please contact 4th grade mom Melissa Standish (melissa.standish@gmail.com)

News: Our after school instrumental music program begins on Friday, September 28. If you have not already done so, please register online at www.jointheorchestra.com or www.childrensmusicworkshop.com/schools/palisades so that we can reserve a spot for your child in the orchestra before enrollment closes. Elementary school is the perfect time to learn a musical instrument.  The combination of discipline, concentration, socialization and creativity that students learn in group music lessons are skills that transfer to all areas of their lives. Researchers are providing us with an unprecedented understanding of how we think and how we learn.  Now we know that instrumental music can be a vital part of a complete education. Thanks very much and we hope to see you in the orchestra!

Yours truly,

Joan Ingle, Principal
