hydrating the homeless
As a community, you have come together in a BIG way to help support this cause!
With an outpouring of generous donations from the community, and the Tempe Public Library's Water for Fines program and delivery support from the United Food Bank we have been able to donate over 200 cases of water to Tempe's homeless providers already this month. We have another shipment going out this week, and the Arizona Youth Outreach Foundation is hosting a carwash to benefit the cause this Saturday, June 29 beginning at 8am at the Applebee's on Southern and Rural. Individuals and business can help provide heat relief for those in need. Water bottles and monetary donations are accepted throughout the summer during our regular office hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm at Tempe Community Council, 34 East 7th St. Tempe 85281, tel #480.858.2300. Also, we can help your dollar stretch with bulk purchasing, so donations are gladly accepted online:
Thank you! |

Tempe Cares wants to beautify
your neighborhood
Tempe Cares, an organized one-day city beautification program from Tempe Leadership, is searching for a 2014 spring project to help reduce blight and improve the appearance of the Tempe community through volunteer support.
We are looking for a project that would enable approximately 300 volunteers and skilled laborers to come together to improve the appearance of Tempe's neighborhoods and community spaces. The project can include, but is not limited to:
- beautification of owner-occupied neighborhood homes through painting, landscaping or clean-up
- graffiti removal
- improvement of city streetscape, such as retaining walls, alleys, and parks
- landscaping renovations
- blight removal
Email tempecares@gmail.com with your request for volunteer assistance to beautify, renovate, landscape or paint your project. Please include a contact name, information on the scope of the project and assistance you could provide to the project in your submission. Submissions are due by September 30, 2013. The Tempe Cares committee will review all projects and provide a decision to the winning submission by December 1, 2013. For more information about Tempe Cares, please visit www.tempeleadership.org
