free tax preparation for qualified residents
Tax Prep Each tax season, Arizona families miss out on millions of dollars in tax refunds because they are unaware of programs like the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), a refundable federal income tax credit eligible to low-income working individuals and families. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is designed to change this by providing families with the knowledge and guidance to lessen their financial burden.

The Tempe Financial Stability Initiative, a collaboration of Tempe Community Council, Tempe Schools Credit Union, W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University and the Internal Revenue Service, operates a VITA program in our area.
Free tax preparation and EITC refunds are available for low-to-moderate income taxpayers making under $50,270 in 2012; seniors and individuals with a disability.
This service is available each Saturday, February 2 to April 13 from 9 a.m. to noon (except March 9 and 16 for Spring Break) and Wednesdays January 30 and February 6 to February 27 from 5 to 7 p.m.   It is hosted by Tempe Schools Credit Union, 2800 S. Mill Ave.
Check bit.ly/TCCVITA for a detailed list of what to bring to your visit.
