Happy New Year everyone and welcome to 2013. If this past year was only half as eventful and life changing in your world as it was in mine, then you had one amazing year. For me, 2012 was a landmark year of enlightenment, growth and change; personally, spiritually and professionally.
As some of you may know, I have been alcohol free and involved in Celebrate Recovery (A Christian Based Recovery Program) for 3 years now. The past three years of my life have been unlike any other I have experienced since I can remember, and not just because I have not had a drink. All I have learned and experienced through my surrender at Celebrate Recovery has pushed me down a road of self-awareness, self-examination, spiritual growth and fulfillment. A road of massive change. A journey to honestly seek out my true path and purpose, possibly for the first time in my life. This has been an exciting, painful, joyful and at times frightening, confusing and unsure experience.
In August of 2012 I was blessed and fortunate enough to be able to spend 1 week in an intense Vocal and Songwriting master class with one of my life long musical heroes, Gino Vannelli. I was also lucky enough to be able to spend a lot of one on one time with this master musician and spirit. More often than not, our personal discussions were about religion, faith, spirit and finding your true God given path in life than they were about music. My time with him in and out of class was one of several events this year that provided extreme personal proof to me that God was working wonders in my life. Proof that I was on the right road, and now, with years of personal turmoil behind me, I am more at peace with myself, my spirit, my faith, and my path than ever before.
This peace and faith manifested itself in many positive ways in 2012. As mentioned above, I had the opportunity of a lifetime to study with Gino Vannelli. I was also lucky enough to finally team up with my good friend Hugo Duarte and have our Frozen Gringo Road Tour, which we have planned for several years, come to a very successful fruition. We are now in the middle of recording our first CD and planning our second tour. In January of 2012, through Hugo I met my new business partner with Jeff Pike Music, Ms. Kathy Mullen.
The positive influence she has had on everything that is my "own" original music and spearheading new ground and progress with Jeff Pike Music has been overwhelming. My path with my own music this year has seen a rebirth, and in many ways Hugo and Kathy are largely responsible for it.
With my band A1A, which I am proud to say is over 20 years old now and STILL going strong, I had the opportunity to sing in a major motion picture and had one song on the Soundtrack which came out on Capitol Records. (What To Expect When You're Expecting)
My partner in A1A, Mr. Chaz McDonald and I formed a band entitled U.S.1 this year too.
U.S. 1 is a smaller version of A1A which allows us to play different material other than Jimmy Buffett and bring the A1A experience on a smaller level to clients who cannot afford the large production which is A1A.
So as you can see, 2012 was very good to me, and I take very little credit for it. I give my credit to God and being open to the changes that he wanted to make in my life.
In 2013 I am planning on a new all original CD, a Christmas CD and hopefully some new A1A music as well. Presently, Hugo Duarte and I are in the middle of recording our debut CD as "The Frozen Gringos" and planning our 2013 tour schedule. Naturally, A1A and U.S. 1 shows will continue and I will plan to be venturing into playing more House Concerts and Solo Performances featuring my own original music.
JeffPike.com has gotten a complete makeover and I am still in the progress of growing it. So please check that out along with all of my social media websites and let me know your thoughts. As always you can drop me a line at jeff@jeffpike.com anytime.
I am an extremely blessed and grateful man at the dawn of this New Year, and I want to thank each and every one of you who enjoy and support my performances and the music I make.
See you on the road........Happy New Year!
Jeff
