All federal offices are funded effective 10/17/2013. During the government shutdown the Department of Labor did not process any applications and as a result critical deadlines were missed. In addition, many applications with status implications could not be filed. No guidance as to the relief available to missed deadlines or status violations. The Office of Foreign Labor Certification is likely to release their policies and relief in the next couple of weeks. The USCIS may also consider some kinds of relief after their consultation and collaboration with the OFLC. 

USCIS recently began transferring some I-130 cases from the National Benefits Center to the Nebraska, Texas and California Service Centers to balance overall operational workload. If your case was transferred, USCIS will send you a notice listing the transfer date and where your case will be processed. Your original receipt number will not change and this will not further delay the processing of your case.

-          Thank you for the Morale Booster! Our soldier's faces lit up as I started laying out all the goodies from your care package. As soon as I announced the box, some soldiers made a beeline for it to see what was up for grabs! Two of my younger soldiers (21 and 20) have immediately started tossing around the mini footballs...a few others went straight for the magazines...  I try to think of the small things that will keep them going and help them remain positive, but as I get to know a number of them, many join the Army to get away from a rough upbringing and a number of them will not receive mail or packages at all from loved ones throughout this deployment. Thank you for making a difference --- my soldier, Donovan, in particular will remember your kindness... P.S. That candy kept most of our staff alert and awake for one of our late night planning sessions! Perfect timing!
