City of Dubuque's Free Summer Trolley

The Jule's Summer Trolley operates from Memorial Day weekend through the end of October to
provide access to major parks and recreation opportunities in the Port of Dubuque, Bee Branch Creek, Downtown, Eagle Point and Schmitt Island. 

Rides on the Summer Trolley are free to all residents and visitors. 

Hours of operation are May 30 through October 31 on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Toddler Tuesday Program - June 9th

The Museum & Aquarium offers a program for toddlers on a Tuesday of each month. The Toddler Tuesday Program is from 10AM to 11AM and is for children ages 2 to 4 years old. Each month features a new theme and fun activities, including a story and craft project too!


 
The theme for June 9th is "N is for Narwhal" and July 7 is "O is for Octopus". Cost is just $5 per child and FREE for the one accompanying adult or guardian (cost is for program only, regular admission not included).

Rock the Dock - June 26th
The FREE Summer Concert Series returns to the Museum & Aquarium! Walk, Bike, drive, or boat up for this entertaining and FREE event! The River's Edge Cafe will have a special Rock the Dock menu and there will be a cash bar available. Doors open at 6, music starts at 7 and goes until 10pm.

Ice Cream Social - July 4th
The time-honored celebration returns to the Mathias Ham House, 2241 Lincoln Avenue, from 11 to 4. Tour the Ham House and grounds free of charge. Donations will be accepted. 

Traditional cakes, ice cream, and picnic food will be available for purchase.

Recent News
The Museum & Aquarium is on Summer Hours and is open from 9 am to 6 pm.

Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition is open now through September 7th. There is a $5.00 additional fee for this exhibit. 

The Mathias Ham House and the Old Jail Museum are open Wednesday through Sunday 11 to 4.

Titanic is Here! 

Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition takes you on a journey back in time to experience the legend of Titanic like never before. The galleries in this fascinating Exhibition feature real artifacts recovered from the ocean floor along with room re-creations and personal stories. Engineering, physics and social studies are all addressed as you explore the science of Titanic. 

 

Thousands of visitors have already experienced this incredible exhibit! 

 

Admission to Titanic is $5.00 per person (including NMRM&A members) and is available for purchase online. Entry into the exhibit is on a timed basis.

Summer Camps - Registration ends July 1!

There's Still a Few Spots Left for our New Summer Camps! 


 
Dive into our NEW summer camps sessions for a one of a kind experience. Camp sessions are for children in entering Kindergarten through middle school and include innovative activities, live animal encounters, games and crafts. Themes for 2015 are Kinder-Kamp, H2Oh Yeah!, Infinite Insects, and The Working River! Plaza Pavers

Commemorate your loved ones with a National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium Plaza Paver for summer installation!

 

Our pavers provide a great way for you to commemorate your donation to the Museum & Aquarium for our 165,000 visitors each year to see! Your paver will be placed outside in the Mississippi Plaza, which connects our two buildings - the William Woodward Mississippi River Center and the Diamond Jo National River Center - right in the Port of Dubuque.

 

Three options are available for personalized pavers; a 12"x12" at $600, a 12"x24" at $1250 and 24"x24" at $3000. For pavers at $1250 and above, we also offer payment plans for the as well the option to make your gift through the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque and qualify for the Endow Iowa tax credit.

Ding Darling Day - July 18th

The annual Ding Darling Day will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 P.M. in the Plaza at the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium.  The day is full of activities for children and adults that are free to the public.

 

Activities scheduled throughout the day include sun printing, conservation agency presentations, and animal programs.  Tubs and tanks will hold turtles, frogs and mussels and will be available for touching.  Other activities include wildlife and fish stations, hands-on activities.

 

The Museum & Aquarium is excited to be teaming with other organizations to host this event including the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Dubuque County Conservation Board, National Audubon Society, Dubuque Metro Solid Waste Agency, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers,1 Mississippi, Mississippi River Network, and the Upper Mississippi River Wildlife & Fish Refuge.  The help from these organizations allow the outdoor events to be free to the public; normal prices for admission to the Museum & Aquarium will still apply.
