Rock the Dock - May 29th
The FREE Summer Concert Series returns to the Museum & Aquarium on Friday, May 29th! Walk, Bike, drive, or boat up for this entertaining and FREE event! The River's Edge Cafe will have a special Rock the Dock menu and there will be a cash bar available. Doors open at 6, music starts at 7 and goes until 10pm.

The second floor of the Mississippi River Center is under construction to prepare for Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition, opening May 23rd. 

Toddler Tuesday Program - May 19th
The Museum & Aquarium offers a program for toddlers on a Tuesday of each month. The Toddler Tuesday Program is from 10AM to 11AM and is for children ages 2 to 4 years old. Each month features a new theme and fun activities, including a story and craft project too!


 

The theme for May 19th is "M is for Mammal" and June 9th is "N is for Narwhal". Cost is just $5 per child and FREE for the one accompanying adult or guardian (cost is for program only, regular admission not included).

Recent News
The Museum & Aquarium is on Winter Hours and is open from 10 am to 5 pm. On Saturday, May 23 we will switch to Summer Hours and will be open 9 am to 6 pm.

The Mathias Ham House and the Old Jail Museum reopen Saturday, May 23 and will be open Wednesday through Sunday 11 to 4.

Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition - May 23

Titanic is Almost Here! 

Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition takes you on a journey back in time to experience the legend of Titanic like never before. The galleries in this fascinating Exhibition feature real artifacts recovered from the ocean floor along with room re-creations and personal stories. Engineering, physics and social studies are all addressed as you explore the science of Titanic. 

 

Admission to Titanic will be $5.00 per person (including NMRM&A members) and will be available for advanced purchase mid-May. Stay tuned for details.

Ways to Give

Great Give Day is back! 

The second annual Great Give Day, a 24-hour, online giving event for Northeast Iowa nonprofits presented by the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque, will take place on Tuesday, May 5, 2015. Last year's event raised $205,630 in just one day!

 

Start giving in 2 easy steps:

1. Starting at midnight on May 5, 2015, click on www.GreatGiveDay.org.

Every donation of $10 or more will support of our National Endowment for the Humanities Challenge Grant of $750,000 and ensure longevity for the organization. Plus, gifts given that day will receive a portion of local and national bonus funds-making your dollars go further. We hope you will consider supporting us on May 5!
Yoga at the Museum & Aquarium - May 9 & 16
Try a unique, new class! Enjoy yoga by the Gulf of Mexico Aquarium in the National River Center. Classes are taught by instructors from Twisted Root Yoga Studio in Dubuque. Open to ages 16 and up, beginners welcome. Limited mats will be available to participants new to yoga. $15 registration fee includes day pass to the Museum & Aquarium (participants can leave after class and return).

To register, click here and select dates. Registration closes Thursday before each scheduled class. If space is available, registration will reopen through morning of class. 
FrogWatch USA - May 20th
The National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium is once again proud to host FrogWatch USA. FrogWatch USA is a citizen science program of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) that provides individuals, groups, and families with an opportunity to learn about wetlands in their communities and report data on the calls of local frogs and toads. Volunteers collect data during evenings from February through August and have been submitting data for over 15 years.

Join us during the evening on Wednesday, May 20th and become a citizen scientist; helping to track the health of our local wetlands and amphibians.

New Summer Camps for 2015!

Museum and Aquarium Summer Camps are a great 

opportunity to learn AND have fun! 


 
Dive into our NEW summer camps sessions for a one of a kind experience. Camp sessions are for children in entering Kindergarten through middle school and include innovative activities, live animal encounters, games and crafts. Themes for 2015 are Kinder-Kamp, H2Oh Yeah!, Infinite Insects, and The Working River!
