Volunteers are the heart and soul of the Museum & Aquarium's daily operation. In 2014, volunteers served nearly 13,000 hours - equivalent to over $250,000 of in-kind time and talent! Every day, volunteers are making a tangible contribution to our organization and community.

Order your paver today for spring installation!
The Mississippi Plaza connects our two buildings - the William Woodward Mississippi River Center and the Diamond Jo National River Center - to create one comprehensive river campus.
There are three options for personalized pavers; a 12"x12", 12"x24" and 24"x24". There is also an option for a wrought-iron bench. We are offering payment plans for the pavers at $1250 and above as well the option to make your gift through the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque and qualify for the Endow Iowa tax credit.

The Museum & Aquarium is now on Winter Hours and is open from 10 am to 5 pm. We will continue on these hours until Memorial Day weekend.
The Mathias Ham House and the Old Jail Museum are closed for the season. They will reopen Memorial Day weekend.

Toddler Tuesday Program - February 17th
|
The Museum & Aquarium offers a program for toddlers on a Tuesday of each month. The Toddler Tuesday Program is from 10AM to 11AM and is for children ages 2 to 4 years old. Each month features a new theme and fun activities, including a story and craft project too!
The theme for February 17th is "J is for Jellyfish" and March 17th is "K is for Kingsnake". Cost is just $5 per child and FREE for the one accompanying adult or guardian (cost is for program only, regular admission not included).

Spring Break Amazing Afternoons

 On Fridays and Saturdays between March 13 and 28, the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium will be hosting - Spring Break Amazing Afternoons for kids ages 5-12!Spring Breakers will experience several hands-on activities including live animal encounters, fun interactive games and crafts, and explore all of the wildlife the aquarium has to offer. Click Here for details on each camp. Pricing for each session: $20/non-members, $15/members. Registration is required by March 2, 2015. Refunds are permitted up to seven days before the program, with exception of low attendance or weather-related cancellations. Rivers Hall of Fame Board Member in the Spotlight

 Captain Ike Hastings was featured in an article this month on JournalStandard.com. The article discussed Hastings' love of building boats over the course of his ninety-year life. After recently completing his 47th boat, Hastings was approached by History Channel producers to take part in a new series entitled
Mississippi Men. In the new show which debuted this month, Hastings' is followed by cameramen to document his journey down the Mississippi River in his one-of-a-kind boat. The boat featured in the show, the
Pickett Hastings, is currently parked at the ice harbor in Dubuque.
