The Chicago housing market is heating up, and a lack of inventory in many neighborhoods has caused the pace of sales to pick up. According to Crain's Chicago Business, the average single-family home in North Park sold in just 46 days during the first four months of 2014. That total is down more than 50 percent from last year and the shortest time among the city's 77 community areas. West Town had the fastest condo/townhome sales, with the average unit selling in 65 days.
