SAN FRANCISCO MINIMUM WAGE RATE

INCREASES TO $10.24

Employers with employees in San Francisco be aware: the San Francisco minimum wage has risen to more than ten dollars! Beginning January 1, 2012, the San Francisco minimum wage will be $10.24.

The San Francisco minimum wage is adjusted once per year. In 2011, the San Francisco minimum wage has been set at $9.92 per hour. All employers, regardless of where they are located, must pay this wage to any of their employees who perform work in San Francisco.

The San Francisco minimum wage applies to both full time and part time employees. Accordingly, any person who performs at least two hours of work in a particular week for an employer within the geographic boundaries of the City is entitled to be paid no less than the San Francisco minimum wage.

Employers with employees in the City of San Francisco will need to update their payroll and accounting systems and factor the new minimum wage in making projections for the new year.

Sincerely,
