GET GA 2014 ON YOUR CONGREGATION'S RADAR!

Many newer UU's don't know what a General Assembly is, and many longer-term UU's have never had the chance to attend one. You can seize this opportunity of a nearby New England GA to change all that!

The GA website, www.uua.org/ga, offers almost everything you'd like to know about General Assembly and helps you share it with others.

Check out the page of "General Assembly Promotional Resources for Congregations" at http://www.uua.org/ga/congregations/192720.shtml. You can download inserts for your Orders of Service, copies of the GA 2014 logo, and images from last year's GA to give people a sense of what GA all about. There's even a page of tips for first-timers.

Go to  http://www.uua.org/ga/2013/index.shtmlto see videos and read transcripts of programs from past General Assemblies. Select a few samples and try them out. Listen to the rousing and inspiring music. Think about whether there's a program that a whole group in your congregation might want to watch and discuss.

Don't know much about Providence? Go to http://www.uua.org/ga/travel/14836.shtml and see what's in store for you in this "creative capital," a historic city that's undergone an exciting renaissance in the last 20 years. Follow the Providence links to http://www.goprovidence.com/things-to-do/waterfire/ and learn about Providence's world-renowned artistic event that we'll be a part of on Saturday night at GA.

Want to get involved in GA? Between now and Dec. 31, musicians of all kinds are invited to apply to share their talents as part of GA programs. You'll find the invitation on the home page, or go to http://www.uua.org/ga/program/contribute/277496.shtml.

If you're interested in being a GA Volunteer, applications for volunteer positions will be open March 1-March 31. Read about the variety of volunteer opportunities at http://www.uua.org/ga/registration/financialaid/14930.shtml.

The Program Development Group, composed of volunteers and staff, is hard at work now, reviewing the many excellent program proposals they received, focused on the GA 2014 theme, "Love Reaches Out." The UUA Board will be working on the tentative business agenda in January. So be on the lookout for more news later this winter.

General Assembly is an exciting, inspiring, enriching experience for UU's of all ages, whether new to our faith community or long seasoned in it. So share the news!

Looking forward to seeing you in Providence!
