BCD Annual Meeting Report
The Ballou Channing District's Annual meetin was held on April 27 at First Congregationa Parish in Kingston, MA. The delegates to the 2013 Annual Meeting:
- Approved the district's FY 2014 general operating budget of $146,300 with no increase in the Congregation Contribution rate of $19 per member
- Received reports from the BCD Board, District Executive, Treasurer and others that included board and staff activities, the district endowment, audit and finances.
- Receive a report from the 2014 General Assembly district coordinator, Beth McGregor, about preliminary plans for General Assembly in Providence, RI.
- Gave recognition to ministers and religious educators newly arrived this year and those who are leaving their positions at the end of this church year.
- Elected new officers and board members (see next article)

Participating in 2013 Boston Pride Parade
All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church of Braintree www.allsoulsbraintree.org invites member and friends from Ballou Channing District Unitarian Universalist congregations to march together in the Boston Pride Parade on Saturday, June 8. The parade route is about 2.4 miles long.
All Souls has reserved a bus to drive to and from the Parade. The cost is $10.00 round-trip, per person. Reservations are recommended, and will be taken on a first-come-first-served basis. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Cash or checks can be given on day of event. To make a reservation, please call All Souls at 781 843-1388 and leave a message for Mal Marvill, Pride Bus Reservations Coordinator
The bus will leave the All Souls parking lot at 9:45 a.m. and return at 3:40 p.m. If traveling on your own and want to meet the contingent, look for "South Shore Unitarian Universalists" banner around Copley Square or join anywhere along the route. Congregations are invited to bring a congregation's sign, but not the church banner. . |

BCD Scholarships for General Assembly
The District has several $250 scholarships available on a first come, first awarded basis. The scholarships are primarily intended for congregation presidents and presidents-elect (or those who will be nominated and elected this year). BCD Office Summer Schedule
The BCD office will close on June 13 and reopen on August 13. The Administrator will check mail and phone messages weekly. The District Executive will continue to work from his home office, though he will be taking two weeks vacation during July and August. - Seeking funding for Work on Wm. Channing Papers at Meadville Lombard
The newly hired professional archivist at Meadville Lombard Theological Schools reports that the William Ellery Channing papers at Meadville Lombard are in need of preservation work. The collection at the Meadville Lombard library is larger than at Harvard. The schools is looking for individuals who are interested in Unitarian history to make a donation toward the project of preserving Channing's papers. Contributions of any size will be accepted.
