Cassie Fields

NCC Group Escrow Associates

Alpharetta, GA

One year into my position at NCC Group (formerly Escrow Associates), I was approached by our CEO about getting more involved in the Atlanta technology community. As a result of our conversation, he highly recommended Conexx (AICC at the time)  and supported my membership and involvement with the organization.

Being heavily focused on technology transactions through source code/technology escrow, he accurately assumed that Conexx would give me exposure to a variety of industry topics as well as connections to startup companies with which we could form mutualistic partnerships.

Within the year, I became part of the Conexx family, feeling strongly about the organization's purpose. Soon, I volunteered as a committee member for the annual Eagle Star Gala, which allowed me to be actively involved in working with other members as well as some of the most successful companies each year which were being considered for various awards.

Over the past year, I have taken a promotion which has brought with it changes in responsibilities and focus on cloud solutions.  However, Conexx still remains a permanent fixture in my network. Through my involvement, I have learned about cutting edge technology from budding companies, educated myself about industry changes, forged invaluable partnerships and sharpened my networking skills.  I will continue to be a devoted member into the foreseeable future.

South Carolina and Israeli Companies Invited to Apply for R&D Funding
This Request for Proposals (RFP) is the second call for proposals initiated within the framework of the collaborative industry research and development program envisioned in the Agreement between the Government of the State of Israel and the Government of the State of South Carolina, which was signed on 15 October 2013, and implemented through the Cooperation Agreement for Promotion of Industrial Research and Development between SCRA and the Israeli Industry Center for R&D (MATIMOP) on behalf of the Office of the Chief Scientist (OCS) in the Ministry of Economy.

The two first projects that have been awarded this grant include creating a centralized approach for structuring "free text" medical research data enabling access for the wider medical research community. The two-year research program partners Columbia-based Health Sciences South Carolina and Israeli-based CliniWorks. The second project will explore flame retardant chemicals and potential applications for the textile industry. The one year project partners Greenville-based Alexium with Israel Chemicals, Ltd.

Conexx Inaugural Golf Tournament
The 1st Annual Conexx Golf Tournament "Clean on the Greens" was held on Monday, November 3rd. In partnership with presenting sponsor Toyota, the tournament highlighted the green technology industry in recognition of the efforts that companies like Toyota are making to be environmentally responsible and in honor of Israel recently being recognized as the world leader in clean technology innovation.

"Through my relationship with Conexx, I've come to appreciate how it's a win/win/win organization - for Israel, for the local economy, and for its members. I also have come to realize how much more Conexx could do with just a few more resources. That's why I volunteered to chair the first annual Conexx golf tournament and why I got my good friends at Toyota to come on board as our presenting sponsor" said tournament Chair Jan Williams.

Incubating new companies from within was the focus of a HighTech Connector program featuring Zohar Zisapel - "Father of Israel's HiTech Industry" on Wednesday, November 5th. Over 50 people gathered to hear the co-founder of the RAD Group of companies, described by Business 2.0 Magazine as "the world's most successful incubator" of telecom-related start-ups. Zisapel, who is a member of Conexx Israel Advisory Board, has been called "the Bill Gates" of Israel.

During his special visit to Atlanta, he participated in a panel discussion showcasing his expertise on Cyber Security, a luncheon hosted by the Metro Atlanta Chamber and met with some of Atlanta's investment, business, and economic development leadership. The public program was hosted by the law firm of Baker Donelson and co-sponsored by The Consulate General of Israel to the Southeast, The Israel Economic Mission to the South, and the American Israel Educational Institute.
