More than we could ask or think

Some of Pacific Partners Tongan leaders at their Nov 2015 training camp

It's been a while since you heard from me. I've missed being able to write to you (and I apologize if I haven't answered your letter or email).

You may remember that we were part of the UCB International group until 2011. UCB provided most of the finance needed to operate Pacific Partners, as well as providing my personal support. In 2011 UCB changed its focus and removed its support.

That left a huge hole in our income - over half of it had disappeared!
So, we cut back on ministry expenses where we could. And we prayed. A lot!

It also meant I had to find a full-time job to support my family.
Which is why you haven't heard much from me.
Big questions hung over us at that time.
Would this vital and fruitful ministry survive?
Would we be able to keep broadcasting and making disciples in the Islands?

Well, it's four years on and Pacific Partners has survived. More than survived - thrived! Because God "is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think . . ." (Eph 3:20 NKJV) Praise God!

For example, just lately -
Loni and his discipleship leadership team (Tonga) continue to see their discipleship ministry grow as our radio listeners commit their lives to Christ and join our many home-based discipleship groups. Just last weekend they held their annual camp for our group leaders and families.

Willy and the staff of Letio Kalisitiane 93FM (Tonga) have raised the money and finished building an animal-proof fence around an eight acre plantation. This was part of our agreement for leasing the land the radio station stands on. They are now raising money from their listeners to replace Loni's aged van (1987 model!).

Tina and her team at Gud Nius FM (Solomon Islands) is raising money locally to buy solar panels for the station. (Honiara suffers one hour, rolling black outs each day as the country struggles with the cost of diesel generation.) The solar panels will keep the station on air. (They get a lot of sunshine there, so storage is not needed for day-time power.)

Yes, more than surviving
The ministry is thriving!
Our local leaders are growing in their spiritual leadership.
The ministry continues to grow as more people in the Islands follow Jesus Christ.
Local people are supporting local projects (as much as they can in poor nations).

Even without UCB's support!
Even without my total involvement!
Even with reducing supporter donations (because I have not been free to share the wonderful stories of what God is doing)!

Thriving because God
"is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think".
So thank you
for continuing to support our brothers and sisters in the Islands with your prayers and financial support.

Please join me in thanking God
for the way He is developing this ministry and its leaders - Loni, Willy, Tina. Praise Him for the way they've learned to look to the Lord for guidance and to supply all their needs. Pray for them.

And please pray for me.
I long for the day when I am available to communicate with you more often. To tell you the wonderful stories of God at work in the Islands.

"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen." (Ephesians 3:20-21 NKJV)
