Tonga Leaders Camp Nov2014

Our people in Tonga are excited.
This week Stan, Mark, and Frank arrive from America for a few days of ministry.
Stan (leader of the group) is from Hawai'i.
He has many years of missions and ministry training experience. He is a Pacific Partners board member.
Mark is a church pastor from Indiana.
This will be his first missions experience in the South Pacific.
Frank is a youth leader from Ohio.
He has led a youth team to Tonga before and had other short-term missions experience.

These brothers are paying their own way to bless Tonga. And we thank God for them.

They will be involved with public ministry meetings; training sessions for our up and coming local discipleship leaders and radio staff; and they will spend a good amount of time with Loni and Willy who are our senior local leaders.

They will also be visiting some local families in their homes, who have come to Christ through our ministry.

Expectation is high among our Tongan people!

Please pray for Stan, Mark, and Frank.
Safe travels and good health.
Protection for their families.
Ministry effectiveness.

And please ask God to use the many challenges of their cross-cultural experience (there will always be plenty of them no matter how well things are planned and prepared) to broaden each visitor's experience of God and his purposes for their lives as they serve the Tongan people.
A note for those of us
who don't live in the Islands
It's very easy to underestimate the value of these ministry trips to places like Tonga. It costs a lot to get there from America.

Sometimes I'm asked "Isn't better to send the money?"
The answer is no.

The Islands are poor and our ministry always needs money, but the real value for our people is -
  • The encouragement it brings when Christian brothers and sisters from other countries spend the time and money to come alongside and help them.
  • And the spiritual growth it brings when believers come from different cultures and experiences, and ready to be used by the Holy Spirit.
