Tonga discipeship group

God is changing lives
through our discipleship groups
There are many great stories of God at work through the ministry of Pacific Partners. Here's one Loni sent me from Tonga.

It's T . . .'s story. She is a new member of one of our groups.

"When I realise that discipleship [class was going to be] held in my house I was really angry. I was devoted to my church and I don't want to allow any other religious into my life. It doesn't matter how I hate that little group that come into my house every week they still coming. I know the day they are coming and I try my best to stay away from them.

"But one day I just want to sit in and listen what they were talking about. Amazing I have been caught by the truth they were sharing and that truth really set me free. I decide to join this group.

"[At the time I] have a problem with my boyfriend, he was having an affair with another woman without being honest to me. I cry day and night but during that dark time praise be to God for the discipleship class that I have been involve. I can seek God what to do and praise Him that he shows me the right thing to do. Also I trust people in the group to [support me as I face] my problem.

"Thank you Lord for introducing me to a group that care enough to stand with me during the hard time."

T . . .'s story reminds me of a Bible verse - "So the message about the Lord spread widely and had a powerful effect." (Acts 19:20 NLT)

As you probably know
the main focus of Pacific Partners Christian radio is to motivate people into small groups in local homes. There they study the Word with our teachers and leaders, and most importantly, start putting what they learn into practice in their family, church and village.

We do not know
how many of these small discipleship groups there are.
Many form quite spontaneously as radio listeners invite neighbors into their home to follow our radio Bible programs. Often we only learn about the existence of a group after it is well established.

Please pray for . . .

  • T . . . and the many like her who know traditional church but are yet to know Christ.
  • Loni and his ever-growing team of volunteer leaders who run these groups.
One of the challenges for us is to identify and encourage new opportunities for local believers to serve Christ with their spiritual gifts, as they mature in their walk with Him.
  • Pray for the new youth ministry Loni and his team have started.
  • Pray for the new children's ministry Loni and his team have started.
