Visitor Viewpoint

Jeff Grossberg
I entered Hummingbird at night on my first visit.  So, I didn't see the surroundings or the community at all.  When I awoke the next morning, I was stunned by the beauty of the land and of the forests and mountains.  I was able to see the moon setting on one side of the sky and the sun rising on the other. Circle of Support

We have heard from many of you how much you value the love field at Hummingbird and desire to be more intimately involved.  Even though you may not feel called to live in a rural intentional community, you may be drawn to learn and grow in co-creation.

We'd like to offer you a wonderful opportunity through our "Circle of Support" to engage more deeply with us as we explore together a "new way of life" Read Full Article

Hummingbird Happenings
Circle of Relationship
by Norma Philipps
Lisa and family "Henry"
Our friend, Lisa Styles, has grown her own food all her life. Now she has begun to co-create with Manna Nectar and Eden gardens. So much so, that Lisa has moved from Santa Fe, where she has lived for 18 years, to a little bungalow just above Hummingbird Community. She will be meeting regularly with the Hummingbird Garden Team, and getting her hands in the soil with us as we grow food for the community.

If You are Suffering...
by Ralph Huber

Suzuki Roshi frequently said, "If you are suffering, you got a little greedy." The greed he's talking about is our wanting life to show up the way we want it to show up. We're greedy in wanting our way. We want what we want in life, and more often than not...we want what we want now!   READ FULL ARTICLE>

Communication Skills for Harmonious Living

As we evolve and integrate our authentic values into our lives, we may trigger unconscious

reactions. Fear, blame, shame, judgment, feelings of inadequacy and doubt may come to the surface as the ego resists moving into new ways of being. The emotional body may go through a detoxification process to shed old patterns and assumptions. When we are allowed to fully experience feelings, an alchemy can occur which frees us from the grip of the past.  READ FULL ARTICLE

Choosing Gratitude as an Attitude
by Sequoia Neumann
Sequoia and Mum

"Other foot," I prompted gently, "that boot goes on the opposite foot." Our eyes met and she gave me a grateful look before going back to the slow and deliberate task of getting dressed to go for a walk. She took my hand and held it tightly as we made our way purposefully down the hallway to our next adventure. "Where are we going?" she asked me for the tenth time and I explained, yet again, how we were going to watch a movie that I had made about my life in Northern New Mexico on a big screen TV in a far wing of the building. Her beaming face looked eagerly up into mine and I felt yet another surge of love fill my heart for this small, trusting being clinging to me, my own flesh and blood, my 93 year old mother. Simple Living:

Measuring Our Impact on the Planet...

How much land does it take to sustain one individual?  Citizens of developed nations across the globe are consuming natural resources at a rate far exceeding what the Earth can continually (sustainably) produce and we are generating waste much faster than it can be assimilated. READ FULL ARTICLE

Sharing Is Caring
The Do-Be-Do Dance
of Self-Mastery
by Eileen Workman
A few days ago, I found myself engaged in a heated debate. I say, "found myself," because the truth is I'd gotten lost in the process of doing an argument with another person. The lure of heated battle-and the heady prospect of besting him-had pulled me away from the very ground of my being; and there I remained, untethered and unfocused, until I awakened and realized how far from my home base I'd wandered.
