TAO Mission: Sharing the Joy of the Arts
Our mission thrives on financial support from individuals and businesses like you

The need for music and arts in the lives of people who live with special needs has never been greater.

Tidewater Arts Outreach pays its artists to present programs and we mentor and support them so they have the tools and understanding to create engaging arts experiences in a variety of settings.  We work hard to educate caregivers on the benefits of arts in health settings, and community members on the needs that exist.  Help us be a part of the solution in Hampton Roads - every donation makes a difference.  THANK YOU.

Tidewater Arts Outreach (TAO) is a 501c(3) Virginia not-for-profit corporation. Donations are tax-deductible.
TAO's EIN is 68-0583526.

D'Arcy Weiss is TAO's new Creative Services Director
D'Arcy Weiss

We are happy to announce that D'Arcy Weiss begins March 1 as TAO's new Creative Services Director.  D'Arcy has supported the arts scene with her marketing and creative talents for years, most recently at D'Art Center.  We are thrilled to have D'Arcy's skills and experience on our team.  You can reach D'Arcy at [email protected].  She and Emily McKenna will share that email address as D'Arcy transitions into her new role.  Emily is staying with TAO and will help us expand our services for people who have been newly diagnosed with Alzheimer's and who need some community support and creative outlet.  More information coming soon on this and other significant new outreach programs.

SongwritingWith:Soldiers workshop for songwriters is April 11

Writing well takes focus, creativity, and bravery. Songwriting takes an added dose of attention in order to maximize the medium of music. What happens if you feel you've got all the ingredients above, but still don't feel like you're getting where you need or want to be as a writer? It's likely you are missing a key ingredient - a reason for writing.

In this workshop, through exercises, demonstrations, and discussions, you will learn how to tune in to what you really care about and find meaningful ways to apply your passion to your craft. Once you can do that, you just might find your work reaching far beyond your expectations.

This workshop will take place from 1-4 pm at School of Rock in downtown Norfolk. The event is free and open to the public; space is limited and reservations are required to attend.   Email [email protected] if you are interested in attending.
