Scott Air Force base to get more than 300 cyber-security jobs 

(St. Louis Business Journal, 6/14) 

Two new cyber protection squadrons are coming to the Scott Air Force Base, bringing with them 320 new jobs and a $16 million investment in the base's infrastructure.

Lindendwood University-Belleville to open extension site in Collinsville

(Belleville News Democrat, 6/24/14) 

Collinsville has been chosen as the first extension site of Lindenwood University-Belleville. Classes will begin this fall in the 15,000 square-foot space at 1101 Easport Plaza Drive, the university said in a press release.

St. Elizabeth's gives green light to $300 million hospital expansion

Officials with St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville, Illinois, are finally moving forward with plans to build a new hospital in O'Fallon, just miles away from its current campus. 


Quinn signs bill to help students of military families change schools

Students of military parents who must be able to quickly adapt to a new school district whenever their mom or dad get new orders will be able to transfer to a different school easier as a result of legislation signed Saturday by Gov. Pat Quinn.

Sewer line expansions, road improvements and streetscape work in the Main Street area have Collinsville primed for new business development, officials said Wednesday.

Belleville school districts hire more educators

(Belleville News Democrat, 6/18/14) 

In preparation for next school year, the school boards at Belleville District 118 and District 201 hired new educators at meetings this week. Central Junior High in Belleville District 118 will have a new dean of students starting July 1 -- Lacey Schmersahl, who is currently a fourth-grade teacher at Union Elementary School.

 

 

St. Clair County awards $632,000 in grants to improve local parks

More than $632,000 in grants will make improvements possible at 23 parks in St. Clair County. The funding stems from a one-tenth of 1 percent sales tax collected to improve local parks by the Metro East Park and Recreation District.

Minimum wage hike, spending for infrastructure part of Illinois' 5-year plan 

(St. Louis Business Journal, 6/14)

The state agency charged with helping Illinois' economy has released a new five-year plan it hopes will help the state add jobs and build on its strengths. Under a law created last year the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity is required to send the plan to the General Assembly by Tuesday.

Illinois invests in solar energy
