TriStar begins construction on $20 million facility in Edwardsville 

(St. Louis Business Journal, 12/10/13)

St. Louis-based TriStar Properties is set to begin construction on a new $20 million, 540,000-square-foot facility in the Gateway Commerce Center near Edwardsville, Ill. The project is one of the few speculative construction projects in St. Louis since the recession ravaged the industrial real estate market, according to Ed Lampitt, senior vice president at Cassidy Turley. (Read More)

  

250,000 pounds of blueberries: MidAmerica may become fruit hub for Asia

(Belleville News-Democrat, 12/12/13)

North Bay Produce received its largest shipment ever in a single day when 250,000 pounds of blueberries from South America were delivered this week to MidAmerica St. Louis Airport. The blueberries were flown into the Mascoutah-based airport from Santiago, Chile, on two 747cargo 

planes on Monday. North Bay President Mark Girardin valued the blueberries at $1.3 million.

Dr. Michael Schifano, an obstetrician/gynecologist, isn't waiting for a $124 million new satellite hospital of Belleville Memorial Hospital to be completed at Shiloh. His Heartland Women's Healthcare medical practice is already building an 8,000-square-foot medical

Upscale lofts, high-end bar and grill coming to uptown Collinsville

A developer with a history of rehabilitating Southwestern Illinois main 
street properties will soon start a project in uptown Collinsville. The
Collinsville City Council voted Monday to approve a redevelopment 
agreement with Main Street Developers LLC, of Columbia, Ill., on the

Gaming and Leisure Properties Buys Casino Queen Real Estate for $140M (REBUSINESS ONLINE, 12/10/13)

Gaming and Leisure Properties Inc. (Nasdaq: GLPI) has entered into an agreement to purchase the real estate assets associated with the Casino Queen in East St. Louis for $140 million. The casino and adjacent land, which sit on approximately 78 acres, include a 157-room hotel, 38,000-square-foot casino, fine-dining steakhouse, a sports bar/entertainment venue and an RV park. (Read More)

 

 

Symposium Promotes Regional Goal to Grow Immigrant Population

New Mississippi bridge set to open to traffic in February

The new Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge is set to open to traffic on Feb. 9 after four years of construction. The four-lane bridge has been under construction since February 2010 and will carry Interstate 70 across the Mississippi River. A public event will celebrate the completion of the bridge on Feb. 8. (Read More)

 

 

Agreement on Multi-Modal Project (Riverbender.com, 12/9/13)

Another step toward the realization of Alton's Multi-Modal Transportation Center will be taken tomorrow. The Committee of the Whole approved a resolution to allow the city to enter into a design services contract with Juneau Associates, Incorporated at its meeting last night. The resolution was laid over two weeks ago so aldermen could take a closer look at the agreement. (Read More)

 

 

Collinsville City Council approves new subdivision, TIF for two businesses

Ten acres of wooded land extending from California Avenue, between Alice and Eileen streets, will be the site of Collinsville's newest subdivision. The City Council gave Chris Geiler, owner of CMG 

Custom Construction LLC in St. Jacob, preliminary plat approval Monday to move forward with the development. (Read More)

 

 

Ribbon Cutting at Dental Campus (Riverbender.com, 12/9/13)

The SIU-Edwardsville School of Dental Medicine in Alton has cut the ribbon on a $9.5-million simulation lab project.  The facility will serve as a primary site of instruction for approximately 100 pre-doctoral dental students.  It took a little over a year to complete the construction, and the lab will be ready to go when students return to school in January.
