January 22, 2015
Greetings from the cold wet country here in San Angelo, Texas. We must admit, Old Man Winter has made his presence known over much of Texas in the last 3-4 weeks. But, the good news is that many areas of the state have continued to receive some nice winter rains and soil moisture conditions are the best for January that they have been since 2010 over much of the state. This translates into a good supply of winter weeds which provides excellent forage for a variety of wildlife. So, deer, quail, turkey, and other wild critters should go into late winter with good physical fitness. Let's keep our fingers crossed that we receive some decent late February and March rains and if so....we should have an outstanding spring and a great wildlife year.
Check out our WSI Play By Play, below. As you can see we took some really nice mule deer this season and wrapped up the year with a few great aoudad sheep and free-range West Texas elk.
Bookings for 2015 are already at a brisk pace, so please let us know if there are any hunts that may be of interest to you. We still have room for some aoudad sheep hunters between now and May 1, as well as some spring turkey hunters. Further, with the moisture conditions as they are at this time, combined with the large number of 5.5 year old bucks that we'll have over most of our whitetail country this fall, this year prospectively is shaping up to be the best whitetail year since 2010.
We hope you are doing well. Please let us know if we can assist in any way.
Cheers,
Your Friends at WSI
