Susan cafe 1
Susan Weis-Bohlen proprietress, breathe bookstore cafe

Greetings!,

When we opened the cafe seven months ago I wrote a letter here about mourning the loss of my little bookstore as I knew it. It was a lot of letting go and I knew I was in for yet another transformation.

One thing I failed miserably at when I opened the store in 2004 was to not make myself the center of the venture. (a central thought in The E Myth by Michael Gerber). breathe books did become my identity so much so that I truly found it hard to separate anything I did from the store. "There's the breathe books lady" is something I have heard more then once! Yes, I am breathe books would be my thought.

But now that we are well into this new addition I am re-energized and delighted and by the transformation -- and am learning how to let go! The bookstore cafe is even more aligned with my personal mission of promoting health and happiness, and now I am surrounded by staff who are on board with the same mission. I had no idea I would find 10 people so aligned! But they are here! I feel secure in the notion that they, too, can support and promote the vision of community and wellness.

We hope you are enjoying the new breathe bookstore cafe. All the mind-expanding books and delightful gifts that you have come to expect from us, as well as simply the best vegetarian, vegan and gluten free foods in Baltimore. With the success of the cafe, I have been planning new and exciting cooking and Ayurvedic classes that we will be publishing soon.

We are now going into our tenth year! Thank you for being here with us and for being so supportive all these years.

If you have any feedback for me, please use this personal address: [email protected]

Much love to all,

susan

The Return Voyage joins their journey where Grandmothers Whisper ended -- with snapshots of gripping, inspiring, and painful encounters - and the constant urging of the Hawaiian ancestors.

By turns hilarious and heartbreaking, moving and thought-provoking, Inette chronicles their experience as she and  'Iokepa Hanalei 'Īmaikalani crisscross the American continent in a donated Camry speaking the ancient Hawaiian wisdom to a world in sore need of the reminder.  Iokepa and Inette left lives of abundant comfort to immerge into the aboriginal Hawaiian culture; a culture that refused war, violence, hierarchy, and gender segregation for more than 12,000 years; a culture that clearly has something to teach us. you can see a video from a recent book talk hereCost: Donation
