Saturday, November 2, 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Author Talk: Around Mt. Washington by Linda Noll
One of Baltimore's first suburbs, Mount Washington was originally part of a 17th-century land grant owned by Edward Stevenson. The hilly terrain provided a sense of privacy and isolation from the commerce of downtown Baltimore, and the cool summer breezes and cleaner air attracted city dwellers. The book boasts more than 200 vintage images and memories of days gone by. The nearby communities of Pimlico and Pikesville were established by Jewish families who migrated from the downtown area.
Author Linda Noll has lived in Mount Washington for almost two decades. The former executive director of Steppingstone Farm Museum, Noll invites readers to delve into the past of these neighborhoods, as seen in more than 200 vintage photographs collected from local libraries, museums, and various institutions.
