Don't Just Talk the Talk, Walk the Walk
to end homelessness and hunger
Did you know that there are over 1,500 homeless people in Fairfax County? In addition to the homeless, there are over 56,000 people living beneath the poverty level who struggle daily just to make ends meet so they won't lose their homes and so they can feed their families. Our goal is to serve our neighbors in need with food, clothes and financial assistance, and we need your help.
Join us to raise awareness and provide support to prevent and end homelessness and hunger in our community. Help us reach our goal of 4,000 participants by walking with us or hosting your own event.
WFCM is a proud beneficiary of Fannie Mae's Annual Help the Homeless Program which raises awareness and funds for organizations working to prevent and end homelessness. WFCM depends on churches, schools and businesses to partner with us to meet our financial needs through the Help the Homeless Program. 100% of all the Help the Homeless Program registration fees go to WFCM to help us run our client assistance programs.
WFCM is committed to meeting the basic needs of our clients so they can stay in their homes and maintain their self-sufficiency. In 2012, WFCM served 3,272 people with food, clothing, rent and utility assistance.
HOST an Event for your school, business, or church: a neighborhood mini-walk, book club meeting, team practice or game, dog walk, swim-a-thon, or exercise class... anything counts. Visit www.hthwalks.org and click "Organize a Community Walk." Designate Western Fairfax Christian Ministries (WFCM) as your beneficiary.
The walks or community events can be held any time from May 1, 2013, until November 3, 2013 (events must be registered by October 18). The registration fee is $20 for youth (25 and under) and $30 for adults. All registrations must be done online at www.hthwalks.org.
For more information or to schedule a "Help the Homeless Event", please contact Jennie Bush.

Client Testimonials
Zelda is working hard to make ends meet as she supports her two daughters and her mother. Her daughters, 18 and 19 years old, are college at the Annandale campus of NOVA. Zelda worked as an accountant, but when she lost her job, she began working part time for United Airlines in customer service. Right now she is struggling to pay her bills since her hours at United have been reduced. WFCM was able to pay Zelda's electric bill, provides food each month from the pantry, and this month provided her with a bible. Zelda understands that WFCM serves as an intermediary for generous community giving. She says, "From the bottom of my heart, I am grateful that you guys are there for us."
