Crafted from shaped potatoes colored with squid ink, you'll begin dinner with a mussel first course to remember. Choose from three or five course fixed-price New Year's specials.
Banana Cafe, 500 8th Street, SE, 202-543-5906. Back for 2013 with a repeat of the party upstairs that rocked in 2012 featuring no-cover kareoke, complimentary Champagne and party favors. Hearty Puerto Rican specials for dinner downstairs will prepare you for this New Year's Eve blast.

Dance and Music Classes Create a New You
Hill Center - Capitol Hill Arts Workshop - Ukelele to Tango 2013
Develop new talents for the New Year. Call now and reserve a space at adult classes held at Hill Center, 901 Pennsylvania Avenue, SE, 202-549-4172 or CHAW, 545 7th Street, SE, 202-547-6830. After class cool down on Barracks Row with your classmates over a glass of wine and rehash the day. Here are a few samples of nearby classes to consider:-Learn Tango. Begin on Friday, January 11, from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Hill Center and continue for the next five Fridays. Wear red and black and look intense. You're a natural.
-Then, the very next morning proceed to a free Harmonica Workshop.  Begins Saturday, January 12 at Capitol Hill Arts Workshop at 10:00 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m. Harmonica is guaranteed to bring out your repressed inner cowboy or cowgirl. -Master S wing and Jitterbug. Dance classes start at Hill Center on Sunday, January 20 from 4:00  p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and continue for 5 more consecutive Sundays. No partner necessary... just show up with your dancing shoes but no drop-ins. You must register for this series
-Finally, on January 26, meet Mr.Ukulele. Spend from 10 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in a free, concentrated adult ukulele workshop at CHAW and emerge with musical skills that guarantee conversation starters forever more.
