EVITA THE MUSICAL COMES TO THE COLONY THEATER
New World School of the Arts college music theater program will present the award-winning musical Evita, one of the most successful productions by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. Directed by NWSA theater faculty James Randolph, the musical highlights the talents of music theater college juniors and seniors and the orchestra students from the NWSA music division, led by Jeff Hess, Musical Director of the show.
"This show is as relevant as it ever was," points out Randolph. "There is tremendous upheaval in all continents of the world and many cultures and nations are looking for someone to provide answers. The need for social justice, change and human rights are as imperative as anytime in human history. As a musical theatre performance, Evita is important because the South Florida community has such a large community of people from the Caribbean and South America; it is the crossroads of the South American world and the long term effects both good and bad, of Eva Peron and her influence are still ever present today."

EMERGING BFA CHOREOGRAPHY
New World School of the Arts College BFA Dance Concert will present Emerge, a program that showcases the passion, skill, and creativity of nine new choreographic voices. As the title suggests, this dynamic program will present a program of works, which embody the joys and struggles of emerging as a creative artist and performer. The BFA Dance Concert marks the most comprehensive and final project delivered by NWSA's dance graduates. "The BFA performance for the college dancers is essentially their performance pieces," explained Murphy. "They have to be responsible for every aspect of it - choreography, dancing, costuming, lighting design, budgeting, press releases - they have to practice writing all these things and developing all of these aspects just as they would if they wanted to produce their own performance. This allows them to test the waters, to challenge themselves, and to take risks that they might not be able to take choreographically because they have the faculty support."
