THINK... NEW WORLD SCHOOL OF THE ARTS
Just 24 hours starting at midnight!

Your support to New World School of the Arts has demonstrated your steadfast commitment to arts education in our community, to our students, and to our alumni, like Jen Stark, who has become one of the most recognized visual artists in the nation.

Your investment in NWSA is vital to fulfill our mission and continue to offer quality curriculum that empowers our students to become the next generation of leaders in the arts. NWSA's comprehensive program of artistic, creative and academic development is possible through a curriculum that reflects our rich multicultural state. The level of our administration and professional faculty, who train our students each and every day, are also key components for the success of our students.

Our programs and human capital, however, require significant operational and scholarship resources, as well as the support of individuals like you, who understand the value of premier arts training.

We ask that tomorrow, GIVE MIAMI DAY, you donate to NWSA so that, together, we may continue carrying out our mission of providing an environment in which our students can fulfill their dreams and thrive as artists.

GMD is the only 24-hour fundraising initiative that grants you the opportunity to  receive a percentage match from The Miami Foundation, increasing the impact of your gift like never before. We look forward to having you join our efforts!

ABOUT JEN STARK

American artist Jen Stark was born in Miami, Florida in 1983 and received her high school diploma from New World School of the Arts in 2001 and her BFA from Maryland Institute College of Art in 2005. Although Stark is most recognized for her paper sculptures, she has explored a variety of media including wood, paint, plexi and animation. Stark's captivating sculptures can be traced back to a study abroad trip during college in the south of France. A declining dollar forced Stark to choose an affordable art medium with great potential - a stack of construction paper. Using her vivid imagination and an X-acto knife, she is a modern day magician who transforms humble materials like paper and glue into fantastic, intricate sculptures that mesmerize the eye. Her optically and methodologically baffling sculptures, animations and drawings gather inspiration from plants, outer space, replication, infinity, microscopic designs in nature and color. Stark has exhibited globally with major shows in NYC, Los Angeles, Miami, Washington DC, Chicago, Seattle, Thailand and Canada. Most recently, Jen Stark was invited to create original animations and artwork for the stage and promotional material of the 32nd MTV Video Music Awards, hosted by Miley Cyrus, which aired live on August 30, 2015.

New World School of the Arts was created by the Florida Legislature as a center of excellence in the performing and visual arts. It is an educational partnership between Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Miami Dade College and the University of Florida.
